When I'm not playing birds, I'm shooting my accordion....or is it the other way around?

Thanks. I would say it's my favorite. I wish I had taken more like it. Not too many people ventured that close to the rushing water.

Cool...I mean cold. :-) Those are neat pictures. I'm glad you are taking pictures in the rain and snow. We got to do photos. :-)

I am really blessed. I ran into my friends Kip and Judy at the lagoon. Kip is an AMAZING photographer who takes the time to criticize what I'm doing... He has helped me immensely. I cannot recommend enough that you find some bird photogs better than you and go out with them. I have latched on to 4 or 5 who much to my amazement don't tell me to get lost, but will PM me on FB and ask if I want to go birding. I am truly humbled..

The difference between Kip and Robert and Daniel and Gary and me (these 4 are my teachers).. is that they will get down in the muck .. lie down on the wet grass and goose poop covered muck (without a ground sheet!!!!!) to get the shot, to get close. I am not there yet... if ever!!!! Need to get closer!!!!

So, today, under Kip's watchful eye, I was able to get these. The eagles were too far away; he didn't bother trying. The bufflehead displays are some of my best but I missed the fly-bys!!! Boo. Judy (Kips wife says don't focus on the water where they are but on where they will land and zoom out first !!! )

Well I got it backwards because I was shooting the displays (zoomed in).. But the point noted as well was that the light was good enough at 1/1600 and f9 to get an ISO under 800.. So.. that's another thing to remember. Keep the shutter speed as high as you can w/o screwing up the ISO if you can..

With the Dunlin, I set my camera to a slow speed to max my ISO quality.. But I would have missed any fly-bys.

There is so much to keep in mind ... it's a lot of work.

Ah, I see you corrected the posting. Yes, it is a lot of work, but hopefully fun too. You are doing great. The photos look super.

Love them all Cd, you know my philosophy if its an Eagle shoot! lol

Took the big gun out today and after huffing and puffing up and down hills leaping creeks etc. I found a nest near where I had a hunch one was it was protected by a pond so couldnt get real close. Also had the 400 with me to do some comparison.

The last 2 in this series are my fav's!!!!! Well done!!!!!

Have only seen eagles three times. One on New Years Day in Eastern Ontario checking out a small group of ducks; on on Merit Island in Florida, and on just after Christmas in Souther BC. A photo of the last one was the only one worth sharing, but a dull snowy day was not ideal for my slow 70-300. Any, here it is; a juvenile.
