Love to hold it one day, but before that, I need to make a decision.

Currently, I have Ricoh GR iii with wide external lens (14mm); X-H1; 16 f1.4; 50 f2; 90f2. I am not shoot for living. Most of my shoots cover : street landscapes portrait and a bit animal. Shooting environment include outdoor indoor day and night. 70%still,30%video.

GR iii : love its tiny size, sharp lens (14mm is great too), close distance focus and ibis. Hate it’s performance at low light.

16 f1.4: my favourite lens. So sharp, f1.4, close distance focus. No complaints except a little heavy.

to purchase x100v I need to let one of above go. Hope you can give me some suggestions!

cheers

V will replace GR,just add a few $$$$$

Definitely the Ricoh.

Clearly the ricoh.

And if you need to make up some more money, the 90.

What would you do with the X100V that you can not do now?

Definitely swap out the Ricoh. Aside from being a bit bigger, the X100F will replace what you'd use the Ricoh for.

On the other hand, your Fujifilm prime selection is excellent and really work well together.

I had a GR II and I used the snap focus in low light and it worked great. Maybe, learn that and save your money. For low light shooter it's to go full frame or maybe the Xt4 with the IBIS when it comes out. But if you just want x100V just go for that.

Good question. Thanks for your reply.

GRiii is my daily camera. Stay in my pocket all the time. But when shooting at night, indoor, I always hope take my 16 1.4. Especially if need to record some videos.

So during trip or any get away, I always put GR in pocket and bring 16 1.4 in bag with H1 and 50. Which is redundant for 18mm and 16mm.

If X100V replace GR, that I could only took H1+16mm with x100V (maybe teleLens); If replace 16mm, I could has super light pack GR+14mm with x100V.

thanks

Thanks for your suggestion.

90 is the one I really love. It is my portrait and tele lens. While 50 is more less weight one if I go trip.

the problem for me is the redundant of GR and 16. While both in same price range but GR offer me a more flexible solution, 16 give me the low light solution. Which x100V get a balance there.

I think of it this way. I’ve sold some primes to get the X100V which will be my carry round camera. I’ve kept my XT2 and 16mm and 56mm and zooms for more slower deliberate photography such as landscape, portraits, macro etc. Best of both worlds.

Keep the XF glass and buy the X-Pro2 for £799.00 instead! It’s like an X100V on steroids. The perfect street camera and small enough to bring everywhere.

Agreed. Even better, find a used X-E3. The X100V is really for folks who want a backup to their main rig, but if you're invested in XF glass already, get a small Fuiji body to use as a backup.

I would never replace the GRIII for a X100. X100 is small, but it's big enough to be in the way. The GRIII is always in your pocket.

Really! The X-Pro2 is like an X100V on steroids. The whole point of a X100 is not being able to change the lens, its compact size and its stealth like shutter.

If you are fit and healthy then you could spare a kidney....

X100V can't replace GR3 or XF16mm

The GR is truly pocketable. It's the ultimate street machine with very well thought out interface. You can always use it as the wide angle option as the second body. The lens and the sensor combo is great.

The XF16mm has a unique rendering. It's fov and close focusing capabilities open up lots of new opportunities.

In case you change one of these with the new X100V, you give some and get some, and have to pay additional premium on the top. It's not going to be better, just different.

I think the GR compliments the XH1 better than the X100 series

Ok, it is matter of opinion. You can just put a 23mm on the X-Pro2 and never change it. Shutter is silent in ES, very quiet in MS.
It is £500 cheaper if you have the glass already.

I disagree!

The X100V has the sensor and electronics from the X-Pro3 and X-T3. So from a technical point of view, the X-Pro2 isn't a 100V on steroids.

And looking at the size, the X-pro is really on steroids in comparison to the 100 series.

The Body is larger, and if you attach a lens, it's always bigger than the x100V.

I just sold my X-E3 with all of my lenses, and ordered the X100V with the WCL and TCL. Yes, even the X-E3 with the 23/2 is bigger than the X100V.

You can also use the WCL 70 lens with the X100V, to get a wider FOV than with the original WCL X100. It's not exactly 24mm ff eqiv. like the 16mm, but around 25-26mm.
