I don't believe that this will make the slightest difference to Panasonic sales or their reputation. This will free the former ambassador to do new things and it will also potentially provide an extra career/income opportunity to someone new to the game.So Panasonic is throwing the baby with the badwater away. (hasty decision.)
On the other hand Panasonic might take the view that if people do not appreciate the educational service that they sponsor, they might as well save their money and potential poor reactions on social media, and cancel all such sponsorship. Who knows? If I was them and the service, which helps promote the products indirectly, wasn't being appreciated or was being unduly criticised, I would certainly pull the plug on it all and direct my budget towards something more effective such as just advertising.
