Well it appears that it's not real enough for DPR to include it in its Have Your Say : Best Camera of 2019 survey .

This is bizarre because they did a "Hands on Review" on 12 Nov 2019 and have done a number of release updates too.

So... what the heck is going on? DPR has included two Leica cameras... Will Leica sell more cameras than Sigma? Or is this some weird anti-Sigma plot? I mean come on DPR, you can't claim this Sigma camera is too different for you -- it doesn't even have one of those weird-fangled Foveon sensors.

I laughed at the title. I agree with you though. It's very weird. I sure hope it's just an oversight. Maybe they don't want to include a camera that they haven't reviewed. They have written all sorts of stuff about the fp though, so it is a little perplexing. How are they supposed to get an accurate picture of what is best, if they don't even include all the possible players? I mean they even posted the news that the fp out-sold every other camera brand, except Sony in its first month, right? If that's not enough to get an idea that the camera is a serious player, then what is?

:)

BTW, I notice they didn't include the Ricoh WG-6 or the Panasonic FZ 1000 II either.

Hmmm . . .

Just in case you think I don't know what I'm talking about, and that the FZ 1000 II must be some European model or something, because DP Review doesn't seem to even know it exists, here is a link to it for sale here in the U.S.

I am a little surprised Panasonic released such a similar camera so many years after they released the first model. They SHOULD have included 4Kp60 video capability, rather than sticking to the 4Kp30. After-all, the G9 has it, the S1 has it, the GH5 has it, and so many smartphones have it that it just doesn't make sense that a premium ($1,000) bridge camera wouldn't have it. Of course Canon, Sony, and Nikon all refuse to include 4Kp60, so I guess Panasonic thought it just isn't necessary. That's their mistake, as far as I'm concerned.

DPR isn't much of a "review site". I think Sigma brass has gotten over the likes of DPR and for that matter the American market in toto. Instead, Sigma Japan is using many more Japanese photographers in their marketing material and the SEIN online magazine. At some point they had to walk away from what wasn't working. DPR is a perfect example of what wasn't working.

It’s all opinion.

If DPR doesn’t think that the fp makes the top 10, you’re free to disagree.

But to suggest some kind of conspiracy seems a little silly to me.

It's not their "top 10". There are 28 cameras listed to choose from.

Did you actually follow the link I posted?

It's not silly, David. I've been challenging DPR regarding their treatment of Sigma cameras here for years. Why should I let up now?

My apologies. There have been so many ‘top’ and ‘best’ lists recently, I mistakenly assumed it was a Top 10.

They chose not to include the fp. Maybe next year, if it manages to establish a foothold.

well, i was always going to nominate the s1 for the top spot, but it would have nice to include the fp as #2.

Hello!

Just messaged dpreview's Barney Britton of the possible oversight - let's see if they add it.

Best,

Alex
Well done, Alex.

Thanks Barney!

I don't know what's going on there. I just voted and I can still see the camera list.
i can see the list of cameras, but the section where you dragged and dropped your choices is gone.
OK. But isn't it the list of cameras that we are concerned with?

Or do you want to vote again?

yeah, i could only vote for the s1 last time. now i want to add the fp in second place.

Well, I guess that's the problem with adding a candidate to the list after the election has started. :-D
