Tamron 17-28 FE f2.8 tight fit should I be concerned?

Considering this lens but no one seems to be talking about this but it seems that the lens is a bit tight to screw in.

I already have the Sony 24-105 F4 and am thinking it will make the mount loose and will affect this lens when I change to it.

Should I be concerned if I buy this lens?

Nope. It is the same for me, the Tamron 17-28mm and 28-75mm f/2.8 are the same way. My Sony 24-105mm f/4 OSS is also a bit tight, and I think that is normal.

So your copy is actually the reverse? IE the Tamron is loose and the Sony is a tight fit ?

And your Tamrons are the same fit?

Hmmm must be due to quality control.

No, all 3 are tight. My bodies are the A6500 and the A9. I did not end up buying the Tamrons though, I prefer the Sony versions.

Any more comments? would really be interested in those who have purchased the lens ;)
What body do you use? I am just curious, because I found an anomaly that on the most expensive Nikon pro bodies, lenses seem to mount a lot smoother than on cheap bodies.

Tightness is definitely normal then. I was at Mike's camera trying out all the new Tamron lenses on the various Sony bodies, and there was tightness on all, including A7/7R series and A9 series bodies.

Yes I tried on other About Sony bodies as well. Just strange because my Sony 24-104 F4 has noticibly less tension when screwing in.

All lenses are different. It is just the same with Nikon.

Okay thank you very much for the input :)
No problem! Honestly, I worry more when the Sony native lenses are tight, because I found out from my camera repair person that Sony lens mounts (on the lenses) are made of flimsy aluminum and are really expensive to replace. The Tamron lens mounts are said to be more durable than Sony for some reason.

I tested the Tamron 17-28 and Sony 16-35 2.8 GM today in store. I can confirm the Tamron 17-28 has a REALLY tight fit on my A7R3. So much that it would worry me causing damage. This was a deal breaker to me and I decided to stick to buying the Sony 16-35 2.8 GM later in december. The sony was nowhere near as tight! No thanks tamron.... :-|

This was exactly my worry as well and apparently the Tamron 28-75 was not like this :-(

The Tamron 28-75mm was very tight for me.

I've been using the Tamron 28-75 for over a year and it's never a concern. If you think a little tightness is going to cause any damage then you'll miss out on some fantastic lenses.

I know. I actually was pretty impressed by it and just by the price of it I probably will get it later on anyway. Most likely the tight fit will loosen up over time I am thinking. It was really sharp and just pixel peeking left me wondering if I really do need that 28-35 range and having to use step up rings for my 77 and 82mm filters I have invested $ into.

Difference between 16 and 17mm is really not an issue. Pretty light lens. Just feels a bit cheap like a kit lens :-D I was almost going to buy it. Just the price to performance ratio is really darn good.

So has your copy loosed up at all?

Apparently, the 28-75 was never tight so it might just be a copy/qa thing :/
