Nikon is dying

The good thing is that this extreme level of lunacy sheds light on how much useless garbage the internet is filled with. They obviously follow some sort of malicious agenda like many other wannabee bloggers.

The bad thing is, that many people not using their brains do believe them, just like in politics/extreme religion.

My recommendation is simply don't feed the trolls and avoid YT/create a whitelist you trust. Trolls get paid for trolling, by watching their fake news you also contribute financially to create more fake news.

Isn’t the only fact to consider is whether a camera company is losing money?

is Nikon losing money?

No, loosing money is not the only element. Loosing money and outlook to keep loosing money is what matter

They are not losing money at the moment but forecasted to lose money next year on the imaging business.

Japanese business dynamics works differently than the Western one (thanks god, otherwise all their camera businesses would have been bought up by china). E.g. Olympus keeps loosing money on the camera business for a decade and it is still running, apparently fine.

BTW, Some people say Nikon's camera business is doomed, profit is going down, there will be no Nikon tomorrow. Right, they might have 5% chance to be correct. Do I care? No, I got a camera perfectly suitable to the task, on my full system level approximately 2000€ cheaper than Sony. If Nikon ceases to exist tomorrow, I (and millions of others) will keep using a perfectly fine tool with a lifespan of 10+years.

Sorry guys, I saw this coming from some of you - getting angry at me for putting them in the highlight. Just got a good laugh from their video, and to presume to know how to solve Nikon’s financial woes in 15 minutes was priceless.

I own Fuji, Nikon and Leica gear, and the Z6 is the best camera I ever bought and that’s over 30 now.

Not sure about dying, but shrinking certainly.

I don't think any of us is angry at you :). It is an eye-opener for many that the fake-news operated world crept into Photography. The best course of action is the same what you do with malicious phone calls, hang up and blacklist...

That's the natural way of business. For a short period, the only way to produce decent imagery for the digital world we live in was a largish sensor camera. In the meantime, ILC's became more affordable, hence the early 2000's seen a big boom on the market. This meant many bought ILC's who normally used P&S before. These are inevitably returning to something more portable: smartphones. No matter what camera companies do, the ILC business will return to pre-boom levels or something close.

I blame the Russians. Obviously a plot to restore Zenit cameras to their rightful place.

Whatever, don't sell your Nikons. If Nikon did go under the value of the gear will go up. Cherish it.

... or at least they should be.

Come on, WHO gives then ANY credibility?

I was in software development for 30 years. The thing is, EVERYONE is terrible at writing good software. Really complex products can't be designed, they have to evolve.

We've just gone through a period where a few giants like Apple have thrown astronomical amounts of money at software and significantly raised the bar.

Nikon has deep expertise that will continue to have great value.

Well, from the couple of videos of their’s I’ve watched, it looks like his wife is dying of embarrassment/boredom when he uses her as a model 😃

According to Tony Northrup, Canon M died in 2016, and yet Canon keeps releasing new models. :-) The M50/Kiss M has been the best selling mirrorless camera in Japan for a really long time, and apparently has decent sales elsewhere.

Tony and Chelsea Northrup strike again. According to them Nikon is in deep trouble...
No, Nikon can NOT be doomed yet. This week's doom belongs to Olympus.

Nikon can be next week's "Doom Of The Week." Then Pentax can reclaim their monthly reserved spot going into December.

I'm waiting for DPR to create a "Most Doomed Cameras" list on their main page.
