What is the EVF magnification of the X-Pro3 vs e.g. the X-T3? Why so much confusion?

There are some conflicting numers out there e.g. dpreview claims on the "specifications" page 0.78 - higher than the X-T1 (2014)

However imaging-resource.com claims 0.66: https://www.imaging-resource.com/PRODS/fuji-x-pro3/fuji-x-pro3A.HTM

Jonas Rask also mentions 0.66: https://jonasraskphotography.com/2019/10/23/x-pro3-a-different-breed-first-look-extensive-preview/

So what is it now, 0.66x (less than the A6000) or 0.78x? Or is this measured differently?

If this is the case my question would be simple: is the new X-Pro3 EVF magnification larger than the X-T3 by way of looking through the viewfinder (not interested in yet another ISO versus DIN etc standard comparison, but the EVF magnification was about the only thing I disliked about the X-Pro2 (according to imaging-resource.com 0.59 versus dpreview's 0.89x:

X-T1 (2014)
X-T1 (2014)

X-Pro2 (2016)
X-Pro2 (2016)

X-Pro3 (2019)
X-Pro3 (2019)

SONY A6000 (2014)
SONY A6000 (2014)

X-E3 (2017)
X-E3 (2017)

Regardless of how I look at those values I simply get confused by those numbers. One possible explanation is that there is some confusion about the much dreaded "equivalence, hence the mentioning of the 0.62x35mm for instance.

BUT: how can then the X-Pro2 be larger than the X-Pro3? I understand then the 2x magnification option of the Pro2 has been removed - but what is the EVF resolution?

Thanks for shedding some light on this!

From what I got so far, X-Pro2 has OVF (dual) magnification of 0.36 and 0.60, and EVF magnification of 0.59. X-Pro3 has OVF magnification of 0.52 (not dual), and EVF magnification of 0.66. X-T3 has EVF magnification of 0.75.

So X-Pro3 EVF magnification (0.66) is greater than X-Pro2 (0.59) and lower than X-T3 (0.75) - but don`t forget that EVF panel should be much more improved in comparison to X-Pro2, too (both resolution and overall technology).

p.s. Resolution wise, EVF on X-Pro2 has 2,360,000 pixels, while it is 3,690,000 pixels on X-Pro3 (same as X-T3).

Still VERY small so this rules it out for me completely ... had been hoping for more!

Disappointing!

What I still can't get my head around is those different numbers, they are all over the place. And also why SONY can get 0.7 whereas the X-Pro2 2019 can only get 0.66?

Also when compared to other cameras e.g. the OM-E5 from 2015, the X-Pro3 doesn't look good:

Olympus OM-D EM5 (2015)
Olympus OM-D EM5 (2015)

X-Pro3
X-Pro3

X-Pro2

Eh, kahm... OVF? :)

Just note that magnification shown above for X-Pro3 (0.52) is for OVF, while for X-Pro2 and OM-D EM5 it is for EVF. EVF magnification for X-Pro3 is 0.66

Comparison wise, both X-T30 and X-E3 have EVF magnification of 0.62.

Again, there are other things that influence EVF experience besides magnification, too - in comparison to X-Pro2, new X-Pro3 has larger entrance pupil, better resolution, faster frame rate, (much?) higher contrast, covers broader color spectrum, etc. So it just might be worth to try one in person, and then decide :)

But I would agree that for EVF only, X-T3 seems a better option - still, that is not the (main selling) point of X-Pro series, OVF is.

I used the X-Pro2 for a couple of years ... replaced the camera ONLY because I liked the EVF of the X-T3 better.

If the Pro3 had the same or similar EVF I would buy one in a heartbeat!
