Another Bad Experience With Adorama?

If you know the seller is Adorama, why not just buy directly from their website?

One reason people choose that is because the prices aren't always the same.

Another is more buyer protection through eBay, as discussed in the thread.

PayPal Credit available at eBay not on Adorama's site.

Wrong.

This is from the link:

"PayPal

For the security of our customers Adorama offers the ability to checkout via PayPal. PayPal will not give Adorama any of your personal billing information giving you an extra level of assurance. Learn More"

That is sometimes true, as a general statement, but in this case we have a specific item.

In general yes, ebay does have buyer protection, but in this case we have a reputable brick-n-mortar shop with a nice return policy and a customer service department.

And there is another good reason.
Another reason is ebay reward program or as they call it ebay bucks. This accumulates quickly with big item prices. I had many times $40 or $60 in credit to spend. Its like free gifts.

I was giving a general, common reason.

... that claimed his order was canceled, and apparently has a history of doing so. According to the OP.

Still, a 2 layer eBay/PayPal protection over "their word against his" would be my choice... if I shopped at Adorama.

And there is yet another good reason. The bucks do add up.

I have ordered from adorama a a few times with no problem. I don't know Jack about their eBay store.

Have you ordered something from Adorama on eBay only to have the order canceled the next day? Any other bad experiences with Adorama?

I ordered several items yesterday, paid for with PayPal only to have the orders canceled today. Reason given, they claim I canceled the order which was not true as I need the items I ordered. I checked Adorama's feedback and they have done that to other buyers, not giving any explanation except say the buyer canceled and the buyers claimed they didn't. They've had 62 negative feedbacks so far this year. And they will soon have one more.

I've had it with Adorama. I've had a number of bad experiences with them ordering directly from Adorama—they are disreputable and I highly recommend buying from B&H, Crutchfield or Amazon over Adorama.
With Amazon, the next day the lens would be on your doorstep. With Adorama, the next day, it will be canceled.
It might be a returned lens, but hey, at least you'll have it.

So, same as every other business?

My dispute with Adorama has been resolved, thanks to Nancy Miller. I can once again recommend Adorama for their competitive prices and customer service.

2 weeks to resolve, and you recommend their customer service?!

They were closed for holidays most if not all of that time; Nancy informed me that it would take a couple weeks due to their closure. At least they made an effort and reached out to me.

It seems that recurring issues reported on DPR with Adorama, like their warranty scam, are only resolved because of the negative press they receive on DPR.
That's the way I see it too, and of course these issues shouldn't happen in the first place.

You never know know what you can do until you try!

The underlying problem is that Adorama and other stores list inventory both on their own website and on eBay. Occasionally someone buys an item off the store website just after someone like you bought it via the eBay website. The store favors the own-website order because the margin is higher. You be the judge of the ethics of it -- whether or not the store admits what it does or makes up a story.

When a big store has an eBay website and you find something you like there, check the store's own website, perhaps divided into New and Used sections.
If that's the reason you suggested, that's pretty stupid. The reason these stores list their items on eBay is that they found eBay to be a viable sales channel. They've already factored in the added cost of doing business on eBay. It would be very foolish to favor your own web customers over eBay. With their own web sales, they have a lot of flexibility to contact the customers to make remedial arrangement. With eBay, they will get a negative feedback which goes against their reputation.

A item listed on eBay should be available for delivery (unless otherwise stated) or it shouldn't be listed in the first place.

Ethics you say, Adorama has very poor ethics, they have proved this time and time again.
