I used it few years ago and after switch to Nikon D700 and D3s. But now it cost about 100-150 USD in mint condition. Will buy one again, as second camera, also there is old but very nice and fast AF lens - Nikon 18-70, and its also cost about 130 USD in mint condition. Together its possible top buy for 250 USD! 10 years ago price for them was about 2500 USD! Also, Tamrn 17-50/2.8 (non VC!!!) - great F2.8 lens with great optical quality, and also cost about 100-120 USD in mind condition. With this sets any photographer can done many kind of photographic works, in very low price!

I have three of them and they are used daily.

For well over 10 yrs they have been used

in a brutal jungle environment. One has

a Nikkor 17-55 2.8 lens. Another has a

Nikkor 70-300VR and the third uses

a Sigma 105mm macro, sometimes

a Sigma 10-20 wild angle lens.

On occasion they have been

used as a defensive weapon !

Yeah, thanks for nice photos. Of course, there is also another opportunity now - put your money in lens, pro lens, like 17-55/2.8 and get pro camera in 100-150 USD! Great way! Also, for many beginners its a chance for use pro equipment without high payments. 17-55/2.8 cost about 500-550 USD, together will be about 700 USD! Its a price of modern plastic camera with 18-55 kit lens...

I agree it’s a terrific camera. I preordered one in 2007 soon after it was announced, and I still use it. I’ve got a D500 and a D700 but I continue to use the D300. Especially for outdoors photos. I think at its current used pricing it’s a steal.

Just curious why do you use D300 if you have D500?

Fair question.

Maybe it's because I've been so slow adapting to the D500, maybe it's because my D500 had some focusing issues which were finally dealt with this summer when I sent it to Nikon for service, where much of its guts were replaced. Since I've received the D500 back from Nikon service I haven't used the D300, but I've got some back issues and haven't done much photography recently if I couldn't be seated while doing it. What photography I have done (two weekends shooting dog activities) were with the D500.

Understood.
