A9 3.0 Firmware somehow enabled Anti-flicker for me

Am I going nuts? I could have sworn the a9 didn't have anti-flicker before, and it isn't in the patch notes now.

It doesn't show up in the actual menus. Just pops up in the Fn menu. In the Fn menu settings, it shows up as "Quality", but it's not. No idea if it actually works. I called Sony Pro Support and the guy on the phone thought it was a bug. Is anyone else seeing this?

Another unlisted 3.0 change was they fixed the APS-C toggle so it isn't as wonky. It's just like the a7iii now.

Anyway, thoughts?

Mine had "frame rate" (250fps or 500fps) in it instead. But when I changed 'function upper 4' to something else, then switched it back to quality, everything was as it should be. Sadly.

Sad to hear it's a bug. I would love to have that feature as well as the ability to rate images and select RAW + XFINE JPEG shooting. Being able to change focus point color would be awesome, too.

Just updated my A9 and encountered the same bug. It replaced the "Picture Quality" option on my Fn menu. I tried it out and can confirm that it does nothing. I had to set it to something else and open the Fn menu, then go back and set it to "Picture Quality" again to fix it. My "Shutter Type" option also inexplicably changed to "AF Track Sens," which I'm not sure was a Fn menu option before or not. This one actually works at least.

Mine too.

That is interesting. I will try to find out more on my A9.

Woah! This is like Christmas! A very Twilight Zone kind of-Christmas! :-)

You're right... think was just carried away, I don't know what that is

Ouch, starting to regret that I was so trigger happy on upgrading......

Is it actually enabled?

As in - when you change this menu item, do you actually see a result? Or is this a mislabeled menu item that does nothing?

I'm not sure - I don't have access to any high school gyms or anything at the moment

I think that you can manually adjust the shutter speed, to duplicate what the "anti-flicker" menu does?

I haven't seen any of those menu eccentricities with the a9 update that I did, knock on wood.

I do not find the antiflicker in my sony a9, I am checking my fn and it is not there, where to find it? thank you

It was a firmware error in 3.0 that was fixed in 3.01. 3.0 had kind of a weird glitch where features meant for different cameras showed up.
