With the Canon converter taking so blasted long, can anyone suggest another option?

Adobe RAW seems to render color balances off with the hack...

The jerks at Adobe of course have taken the RAW plugin away from the site so you have to upgrade to CS. I have 7, and that's good enough, thankyou... : )

Breeze browser seems good, and it accepts the 300D. Seems to be faster with when you make changes and the preview is shown. I like the workflow of this over the Canon one.

Anyone care to share what they have found to be the best?

Thanks,

brian

I'd wait a little bit for the Capture 1 Rebel version to be released this month. It will be 49$. Here a couple links to a pages that are part of a RAW converter review. They helped me make my choice:

I would use the trial version of BB until Capture One releases their Rebel version. I think it will be available in early Nov.

This may be another suggestion. On this site ( http://www.insflug.org/raw/ ) you can find a test of a OpenSource raw converter plus the possibility to download it (in Windows and Max OS X version).

The creator of the website prefers this open source software (dcraw) and I (using Linux) have no other choise. But is also works fine for me.

Try it out. Cost $0 :-)

I having been using FileView with good success. I just transfer directly from FileView after tweaking into PSE2 or PS7. As far as the blend mode in BreezeBrowse goes, I just break shadow areas or sky areas out and process each/either separately with either levels or curves. It's amazing how great that works out. Handles pictures with both sun and shadow areas with a minimum of fuss and great results.
