Hello Everyone,

Thanks in advance for any input you can give me!

Im not sure if anyone has mentioned this (I tried looking around and didn't see anything) and its not a big deal. Just a minor point that has my curiosity.

Ive noticed on my Z7 that when I do not have a lens attached and have the body cap on, and then turn the camera on that a bunch of little red dots are flying all over the place on the back LCD screen.

Does that occur with yours and if so, do you know what causes it? My camera functions normally and Im just curious to see what that might be.

Thanks so much and I hope to hear from you.

best,

Rick

That is normal. The camera tries to adjust exposure to a normal (18% grey) level. But it is pitchdark behind the bodycap. So the amplifiers turn wide open. See it as the hiss that is audible when you turn a audio amplifier wide open.

Thank you so much for the explanation! I appreciate it!! It was one of those trivial things that had me perplexed!

Take care,

Rick

With a lens cap or just the body cap, my Z6 shows a fully black screen, even with a +5.0 exposure compensation.

In the EVF, I can just barely see a haze of reddish dots, like static from an old tube TV. I would never have noticed them until I saw this thread. They are very faint.
