This month through your adapted lenses -- July 2019

Had another chance to stop by on my way through St. Louis yesterday, and took the Oly OM Zuiko 24/2.8 out to play. The more I'm using it, the more I like it.

The Dred Scott case got its start in this courthouse; the Dred Scott Heritage Foundation put up a statue honoring Dred and Harriet Scott in 2012. (Sadly the light didn't permit a good picture of their faces; the 24 copy I have is the H.Zuiko and apparently before multicoating, and you can tell.)

The OM lens -

- doesn't compare half badly with the 12-40 M.Zuiko Pro (no PP beyond a bit of cropping):

M.Zuiko 12-40/2.8
M.Zuiko 12-40/2.8

Warmer, and maybe not quite as sharp. Still a great lens.

They recently finished a major renovation of the Arch/Courthouse and surrounding park area; so far, looking like they did a pretty good job.

This lens just clicks for me in a way that the OM Zuiko 28/2.8 hasn't.

The Mississippi River is definitely flexing its muscles right now; there's an entire set of parking lots flooded out here.

Still flowers, though!

Excellent set! Thanks for sharing.

Beautiful shots, Travis. The OM 24 did very well, but you did better using it to advantage - but, darn, now I'll probably have to go out and get one.
Hah. Well, it's not a bad lens to have, that's for sure. :)

Went ahead and put some of the non-adapted pics from the same shoot at https://flic.kr/s/aHsmEWoN8v, if you're interested in more comparisons with the 12-40.

Guessing that's not fujifilm as the colours seem muted, nice though it's like a wedding cake :-)

If you could have got the Sun behind the building (perhaps by waiting half an hour or by shooting a little lower), you might have then got better illumination on the faces with fill flash. Or perhaps that's asking too much of a little flash.

Regards,

Alan

Excellent point! In fact, fill flash might have changed exposure enough to make the flare less relevant.

This is one of the little downsides to using FF bodies: very few have built-in flash, and a separate flash is bulky enough to rarely make it into my bag....

Sadly, I was stopping through on a drive from Nashville to Kansas City, and didn't have a half-hour to wait; as it was, I didn't get home until just before midnight. :(

I did try shifting position, and this was about the best spot I found; putting the sun behind that chimney didn't work.

Travis - Checked your Flicker page. Outstanding shots, and you seem to have a knack for manual focusing. Well done!

Peace.

Holiday weekend at the dad in-law's. Kept myself busy all Sunday morning in their lovely yard where there was a riot of color and wildlife happening.

Used the Minolta 35-70/3.5, Meyer-Optic Domiplan 50/2.8 on a macro extension ring, the Tamron 135/2.8 on a Tamron 2x adaptall TC, and the Tokina 100-300/4.

If you can tell me which images are from which lenses, that would be great, I have no idea! Just kidding - that's not entirely true, I do have a rough idea for most.

Excellent! If this forum ever needed a poster image to attract new members, that's it!
