Hi

is there any TC that can work with the Nikkor Micro 200mm f4?

Thank you.

The TC-14a and TC-201 would have been the contemporary TCs for that lens.

The newer AF-compatible 14-E, TC-17E, and TC-20E (and their I, II, and III iterations) will attach only after you a milled away a small tab in the mount that otherwise prevents attaching Ai-era lenses to these newer TCs.

Are you asking about the Ai, Ai-S or AF version of the 200mm f/4 Micro?

We have cleared up the lens is the AF-D version.

Nikon used to recommend the long out of production TC 14 A.

With no electric contacts you had to use the aperture ring, there was no AF and limited Nikon flash compatibility.

When Kenko released the first version of their TC 1.4 Pro I found it optically better than the 14 A, with support for AF and command dial aperture control.

I promptly sold the 14 A for what I paid for the Kenko.

I have not used the latest optically improved Kenko but suggest you give it a close look.

My recommendation would also be one of the Kenko Pro TC's.

I haven’t detected an autofocus slowdown on my D850.

Then again, on the 200mm Micro autofocus is pretty slow to begin with.

Thank you. If you can maintain autofocus speed (if that's the right word) and accuracy with a teleconverter, that's very interesting.
