You are VERY welcome, alfalfa.

I was hoping for much bluer skies, but it just didn't happen.
Still, we were undeterred and pressed ahead. We all got SO wet
yesterday in the drizzle and then the harder rains. I hope the kids
don't get sick.
I hope you and your children are well and didn't catch a cold!

It was pouring all day here in Vienna too. Nevertheless I too was inspired to make a couple of pictures:
http://forums.dpreview.com/forums/read.asp?forum=1019&message=6281753

Then the devil rid me and I did some focus testing..... don't ask me.... Il forget what I saw and will continue to enjoy my pictures (I by the way never tested my Elan 7e and most certainly never will).

By the way, how are you doing with your 300D? Are you going to keep it, Ulysses?

Cheers

I haven't had a blackberry pie in a LONGG time, but I love 'em. YUMM!! :-)

Which Cyber-shot did you use? Was it an F717? Great documentation of a TASTY event! :-)

BTW, just as a reminder, don't forget to delete unnecessary text and images from the post to which you are replying. :-)

Even though they're not really "our kids", we're always very concerned for them. We saw them today, and all are fine and healthy. :-)
I particularly enjoyed the first two pictures. I like looking at textured images such as this.
By the way, how are you doing with your 300D? Are you going to keep
it, Ulysses?
For the most part, it's a very enjoyable camera. It has its little issues, but I'm also a rather tolerant person, as long as I know I can deal with those issues. It will do for now. But when I'm ready to move on to another body, I'll do so without hesitation. It's a tool that I'll use for now and then move away from at some point in the future. To be honest with you, I'm looking forward to also shooting with the F828 for an entirely different tool and different set of experiences.

Thanks so much, Willa. I'm glad you enjoyed them. :-)

Yes, that little girl is my little princess. The picture there doesn't do her soft inner beauty and creativity justice. She just turned nine a few days ago. She's so emotive. She loves changing her hairstyles often, too. I can't wait to show some other views of her at some point.
and that little girl at the end has such a sweet face! Really
nice pics.

long live ebay! I am curious for how the 828 will perform, too. It's not for me but it is certainly going to be a very nice camera. The new Panasonic looks cool too! IS will be a must feature in a couple of years, for sure.

Greetings,

She is beautiful. I love her hair! You have the perfect model there. I love borrowing my friend's nine-year-old for modeling, LOL.

While I'm not enamored of the Panasonic Lumix camera per se, I do not have any problem at all promoting the thought that there is great value in having BOTH a dSLR and a prosumer camera where they can both be afforded by the user. You get the best of both worlds and both types of photography this way.

I am a supporter of the 2 cam idea too. Actually it is more like 3 cam for me since I still maintain my film slr beside my digital slr for very wide angle, black and white and other shooting occations where film is superior for whatever reasons. But as a third tool I vastly favor a small camera like the s400 or A70/80 in order to be able to take it everywhere. Even to places where I wouldn't want to or wouldn't be allowed to bring a bigger camera. For my own spectrum of usage a 828 (or by the way Panasonic) type camera doesn't add much value. If I can lug the 828 the I could bring my digital SLR with at least one lens as well.

Once we got back home, one part of the team started immediately
slicing and dicing.

Another part of the team began preparing the mix for the crust and
the filling.

Cinnamon, nutmeg, butter. Even without the apples, we would have
loved it!

We had these tremendous Cortland apples. But we used others as well.

Rolling of the dough and careful preparation for the crust and top
began.

As you can see, all of the ingredients were starting to come together.

All that we had to do now was pop the pies into the oven... and
wait. And wait.

How many pies did we create? Was it seven? Was it eight? I lost count!

Everyone was waiting to dig right in. It was tough holding them
back for this shot.

Here's a pie for you guys here in the forums. I could NOT offer you
some. :-)

Overall probably one of the nicest posts I have seen.
Thanks Steve
I had to move up when I couldn't get flash bulbs for the Brownie anymore.

Ahhh, yes, I'd forgotten that you were also accomplished with film.

Yes, if I include a small portable P&S into the mix, that would be my third camera. :-)

For me, the F828 gets the sort of shots and odd angles that might be tougher to do with a conspicuous dSLR.

It's one of those double negatives. I think you meant "could not Not offer you some". Yum. There's nothing like "fresh baked" apple pie.

You caught me! But what I really mean was, "How could I not offer you some!?" The wife interrupted me mid-sentence, and I didn't come back to correct it. :-)

I really enjoy your storyline uploads, Uly. Sometimes they make me smile when I'm having a so so day :-)

I think this is one of the strengths of your photography and, you should really "do something" with this talent. Not sure WHAT you should do but, there has to be some use for this type of story / photography?

Have a good night. BTW, did you see my posted images from the 300D, that are starting to look like I'm finally learning to control this beast? LOL

I've got more to go..... you really, really need to be sharp (thinking) when using this camera out in the field. Know what I mean? :-)

Our day of apple pickin' had arrived. We weren't about to let the
weather stop us.

We had a nice group of all ages to join us at Ochs Orchard.
Excitement was high.

Tasting and sharing was the order for the day. We were looking for
all types.

The entire orchard was covered in mist, and we watched as more
clouds rolled in:

We were looking for Golden Delicious, Rome, Macs, and Cortland
among others:

One and all had a great time, despite the poor weather conditions.

We found what we wanted, we bagged 'em, and then we rode home for
Phase II.

More to come.

Not as much as you "did" obviously :-) You actually got to eat them.

What did she say? "Here Ulysses, another slice....". :)

Actually, it was more like, "You forgot to wash these couple of other bowls!"

Heheheh... I never get away with anything.

Yeah, I've thought about it, too. No idea where to go with it, though. :-)

Yeah! Your avian shots are looking every bit as "Mark J" as hoped for!

Definitely. It's not always the intuitive camera that one would at first hope for. I suppose that's not a bad thing per se. The learning curve is turning out to be every bit as steep as I anticipated. I'm learning as much as I expected.
