Is anyone else that ordered form day one still waiting or am I the only one! I guess I am better off ordering from someone else but they keep promising next month!

9 months still no 500MM PF

I have a couple friends who have gotten theirs in less than a month but they ordered them from small camera stores. I don't anticipate the huge stores like B&H or Adorama being able to fill their pre-orders for a very long time. there are just to many names on the list.

I ordered from Roberts in October, just got it about two weeks ago. It was worth the wait 
A friend ordered from Unique Camera in NJ, in December and got it before me! (I was shocked actually!) She actually was out of the country the first time her name came up, but got back on the list and got it within a month or so.

My friend ordered few weeks after me and he is yet to receive. This happened in Bangalore/India. Here waiting list must be way small compared to B&H.

I ordered directly from Nikon in late March or Early April directly from Nikon. In early May, I requested a expedited delivery and had the lens in about two weeks. I have had mine for two weeks and it was worth the wait.
Just received mine this weekend. Place I ordered from has been getting about one per month recently.

I'm starting to think someone is screwing with you. 9 months!
And on another thought, one has to wonder about a manufacturer that takes months to delivery a product. Nikon is starting to look a little Mickey-Mouse to me. Like they need to sell 10 to be able to afford enough material to construct another 10.
Reminds me of some two- bit companies I've dealt with.damocles11

Been waiting 9+ months from B+H. Last I called, they said they are receiving <10 a month.
Been waiting 3+ months from Mikes camera. When I placed the order, there were only a couple people ahead of me they said. They said they were getting around 1 per month if they are lucky.
People keep saying smaller stores have them, but those people must keep finding middle of nowhere stores that are not well known, as none of the other smaller authorized stores around me have any clue about the lens, other than that people are waiting for them and they can't get them.

9 months is horrible! I have bought 3 of these, 1 off Craigslist, and 1 off the Adorama used store. I sold both at a great profit. I placed my name on a waitlist at Midwest photo in Columbus, OH about a week ago. 2 days after I did so, they emailed me saying they had one for me in stock, and I bought it. So I have another lens for sale.

Yeah I can't fault you for doing that. If I knew which specific stores had them, I too would buy a bunch and resell them, as I know they go for 1k over retail price. Unfortunately I don't know which out of state stores are able to get them; I already called all the local stores in a 100 mile radius and every store has a waiting list.

It's plain luck. Someone who had been waiting for a long time had their lens come in, and decided they couldn't afford it, so I was next on the list. The other 2 were used that I just got with luck.

Didn't you cancel and re-order at another store due to a credit card issue? I get that you've been waiting ages, but it's not really since "day one".
If you ordered on day 1, then cancelled and re-ordered 1-2 months later, a LOT of people must have ended up in front of you.
