Hello Sigma Shooters:

May is here and spring is in full swing ;). You guys really started the year with lots of photos and good discussions, lets keep it going in May. All Sigma cameras and lenses are welcome and try to limit you post to 3 images. Please remember to give your post a title so that responses can be directed properly.

Have fun, shoot some photo and enjoy spring .;)

This is a poor man's style focus blend. I have on occasion shot landscapes using focus blending where I shoot 3 images, one for the foreground and second for the middle ground and a third to get the background in focus. In this case I was only interested in the petals of the front rose. I used three exposures for the front, middle and far petals of the this flower and blended the exposures. I like the results and think it is a relatively simple approach to focus blending flowers. Image taken with the sd Quattro H and the 105 mm OS macro lens.

Hi George,

Nice set.

The self portrait is excellent. I reckon it would lend itself to an oil painting.

Thanks for posting.

I spent 5 hours walking the beach today, and have 210 pix to show for it. (I won't display them all here...) This is the first time I went on a photo-trip without one of the DP Merrills. I wanted to try a longer lens for one of these walks, mostly for wildlife, and there is no DP4M. But not to worry, these are all taken using the small and inexpensive Sigma 70-300 mm lens. Even so, I got tired of carrying this heavier gear.

I saw 4 eagles (or maybe the same one 4 times?) This one was being harassed by a starling-sized bird (don't know what it was) It must have gone on for 20 minutes while the eagle ignored the other bird:

Then, just as I got back to the house in late afternoon, another eagle visited with his dinner. I checked with a spotting scope and it was eating a Dungeness crab.

I was there in November of 2012 and saw a few of the seals, but not as many an you captured here. That is really a 'wow' scene. ;) I was using 50-500 OSS lens on the SD1M and got some close up views. This one of a pup sun bathing in the sand is a favorite:
