Have you ever experienced monitor blank out on A9?

Yesterday, A9 suddenly lost it's monitor and EVF display after just a few drops of rain on it. The A9 still totally blanked out for a few minutes and then it came back with EVF and then monitor a few minutes later.

I also tried taking out the battery and several power on/off switch. Not sure what brought back the monitor display later and I'm not even sure if this is related to rain drops. While the monitor went black,a Tamron 28-75 was attached.

Am I being paranoid or this is a known issue?

Not sure if I experience the same thing as you are describing but occasionally, when I pull the flip screen out on my R2, generally when stooping to change the perspective to something closer to ground level, the monitor blacks out. I've tried two things:

First, I cleaned the contacts on the screen supports; there may be some dust interference. Try using a soft brush to thoroughly clean the contacts.

Second, I move the camera around until the screen comes back on. It is possible that I was holding the camera too close to my body and the EVF sensor was activating, i.e., turning off the screen - I have FINDER/MONITOR, under the gear icon, set to auto, which shuts the screen off when I bring the monitor up to my eye. It may be that something was too close to the sensor. Generally when I re-position the camera, the screen comes back on.

This is indeed because of the eye sensor for the EVF. It's too sensitive on the A7II and A7R2. Some people have reported good results by partially covering it with a bit of tape.

Now I'm almost positive, the problem was a tiny bit of rain drop on the sensor which cheated the sensor into thinking my eyes are close to the finder now. It's annoying that I can see the display through the viewfinder window like two feet away.

I set mine to manual, use C1 to toggle between monitor and viewfinder.

I have found this also; wearing a black jacket and tilting the camera 'just right' blanks out the LCD screen. Embarrassing when trying to show a client the shot and it is not there!

Adding a small bit of tape to the sensor caused the screen to black out also, so I don't know if that is the answer.

A couple of weeks ago I got caught in a sudden rain shower. I did not have the flash socket cover on. Some water got on the the contact point and the camera freaked out for a second. not sure if this is what happened to you, but, I now carry the cover!

Make sense, I was thinking A9 is pro body, should be fine to a little rain drop.

Well, obviously, the flash shoe is not!
