From what I've read, it's a slow lense to focus. Other then that, you'll be a happy camper600/4

And based upon what's being written by those around these here forums, the market is clearly clammoring for the next model. Will Canon release an update to the 1D? Sure, but only when the
market is ready. My guess is sometime next year.
I think this forum would like a new pro DSLR from each manuafacturer pretty much every year at a maximum. People hear will never tire of a new toy to talk about. And based upon what's being written by those around these here

Anybody here, doesn't want a new model to come out?![]()

You might try the search function as there's been many threads about the slow focusing speed of the f/1.2 version, which is quite sharp when wide open.sounds like a new thread . . . lol
You might think that but that, fortunately isn't how things get done in the retail world. Manufactures are always trying to get a better model out each year. Have you seen all the changes in lawn equipment that comes out every year?Sure, they shouldn't get complacent, but by the same token, given
offerings from Nikon/ Kodak et al and the huge investment Canon
have made in digital SLR's, I think they'd be wisest to simply let
the current range ride.
Yeah, but how much of that is due to the players breathing down each others necks? You might think that but that, fortunately isn't how things getSure, they shouldn't get complacent, but by the same token, given

constantly cranking out newer, gee wiz models. Look at the printer
market.
I really don't profess to KNOW what Canon will do, but I wouldn't suprised if we don't see any new Canon DSLR's until Photokina 2004. What's that- September? October? And you really believe in your heart that sensor body
manufactures are part of this behavior?![]()

But when you look at what Canon sell- pretty much from the 1Ds
through to the 300D, its clear that they are leading the field
across the DSLR market.
Sure, they shouldn't get complacent, but by the same token, given
offerings from Nikon/ Kodak et al and the huge investment Canon
have made in digital SLR's, I think they'd be wisest to simply let
the current range ride. The Nikon D2h probably won't beat the 1D,
no-one can do 11MP better than Canon, no-ones got a lens and DSLR
package for $999.
The lay of the land is pretty clear, I think. Even if Canon didn't
upgrade their line-up for the next twelves months (yep 12), they
will STILL make a lot of money, win a lot of hearts and minds and
generally see a pleasing, healthy return on the arm and leg they
must have spent.
I think all the sorts of upgrades that people "envision" here would
simply be a case of Canon fighting themselves in the market place.
That doesn't make sense.
