Yes, after a veeeery long winter it seems that it is already over. For sure we will get a blizzard (or two :-( ), but in a month the winter will even fade from our memory. And it was really a nasty one, allegedly with the temperature 5 Dgs C below 20-year average. So, today was our first walk "around the water", a reservoir nearby our place. There were few birds, like one pair of Canadian gees, few pairs of Mergansers and Wood Ducks, and of course, our all-the-year round Mallard ducks. It looks like they started to court as well :-) . Thanks for looking.

Peter,

Nice. I have seen a lot of confused looking geese recently! Is the path clear and dry all the way around?

In the 3rd picture the clear patch of water looks their is a weir/drop in the water. And I like the fourth with open water bracketed by snow.

Thanks Dough! Yes, the path is pretty clear of snow/ice, with only some occasional patches. Some water areas are still covered with the ice, but I am sure that on Saturday (when we plan to go there again), it will be a nice walk around.

Ya, Saturday should be nice. I will be elsewhere, camera in hand.

A very cool (no pun intended) selection of photos, Peter :-) I guess, I shouldn't mention Vancouver's weather anomaly this past Sunday ... a 15 minute rain/sleet/hail/snow storm ;-)

Cheers,

Jack

Thanks Jack, yes I saw your pictures, indeed depressing. Here in Ottawa it is however absolutely normal, though every year the weather becomes more and more unpredictable.

Well, where do you live? Behind the Polar Circle :-) ? Imagine, Ottawa lies on the 46-th parallel, like Milan for example. The climate here and there is absolutely incomparable. The only colder capital city is Ulaanbaatar. Even Moscow, which lies far more north has more "normal" climate.

Above the arctic circle in a city called "Tromsø" :-)

I know what you mean, FTG, the climate is becoming more and more schizophrenic :o

Oh, sorry for such a late reaction, but only this morning I realized that you are not in Trondheim but Tromsø. So, hats off to you, that you are willing to live so close to the North Pole. On the 70-th parallel in Canada may live just few hundred people, some meteorologists and military personnel. And of course, no one lives there permanently. The Gulf stream however makes even such places in Europe inhabitable. And in addition you must watch the Big Bear, who is breathing on your necks :-) . Yes, I watched the "Occupied", but in addition I was student in Prague in 1968.

OK, I say spring is here with no "just!" qualification. It was 20C and sunny today, the crocuses are up in my backyard and my cat is trying to camouflage herself in our (still brown) garden.

Easter colours.

Nice Dough, we them on our backyard as well, i.e. except the cat :-) . Yes, in 12 days Ottawa went through unbelievable metamorphosis, exactly like every year.

Nice shots Peter. Love the shot of Lola. She blends in to the foliage perfectly. My Sylvester, being black and white, would really stand out.

Hit 74F down here in Perrysburg yesterday. Warmest day so far for 2019.

Have a good day!

Hi Jim, all the credits go to Dough, these are his pictures. And regarding the cat? Maybe his wife deserves the credit :-) .

Doug inspired me to show how the spring's progressed within those 12 days in Ottawa. Here it is:

Ya, late fall and early spring Lola really blends in. Winter of course she stays in!

I see, you would rather avoid to discuss the second part of my reply. Unfortunately, for me, as for formillions citizens of Czechoslovakia, those old events have shaped the life for EVER! Here is one of my pictures taken on August 21-st 1968 (with my then beloved FED camera):
