Thanks for any info....

You mean live composite? So far as I'm aware, no, it's an Olympus special.

As I understand it, it has a "Light Composition" Mode, which is similar, but I believe is a 4K Photo mode, so JPEG output only.

The G95 has just introduced a Live Composite mode that apparently outputs RAW files, however, just like Olympus' implementation.

There is a chance the improved G95 software will arrive on the G9 (and GH5?) in a later firmware update, but who knows right now.

Yes it was on my Olympus which has gone in part exchange for the G9, but it has been implemented on the G90/95 so was hoping it would be on the G9.

Can live in hope Androole I suppose, but the G9 is already crammed with options so should we expect any more to be added to present model.

Just downloaded the advanced user manual. The G9 appears to have a similar function but has what looks to me like more user control. Can decide length of sequence and which frames to be used, rather than a set sequence and all frames being used. Looks good to me....

Please don't take this as sarcasm, but is this the Light Composition mode that Androole mentioned?

If not, let me know. I am genuinely curious as the Live Composition was a feature I liked when I owned my Olympus.

Dave here is page from manual, seems you can use 4K/6K saves in jpg. Will try it sometime, but so much to enjoy just for normal shots, could be a while before I get to it.

Hope this helps.

G95 has Live View Comp (like Olympus). It is the only Panny camera with it.

GX85 and later (maybe one or two before?) have Light Composition - as mentioned above. Record 4K burst, and hope for the best after :) Harder since you can't see in real time.

Maybe once the G95 is our several months they will firmware older bodies. But I wouldn't count on it. This is such a popular Oly feature. Any wise business will not cripple future sales of new bodies.

Say could you expand on this? Seems invaluable and would be awesome to share the manual information on this "alt to LVC."

Sorry I parted with my G9, as I just couldn't justify all the extra lenses to carry when a good zoom bridge camera can meet my requirements. So unable to answer your query but if my memory is right I think you need the G90/95 for composite option.

I started a petition at change.org asking Panasonic to add Live Composite to G9:

I do not know which kind of impact will have on Panasonic, but I think it's worth a try.

Thanks,

Gabriel Marcelli.

Excellent idea to start a petition, of course it's worth a try!

It now has 498 signatures, only 2 short of the 500 target...

Would any other owners or admirers of the Lumix G9 like to add their signatures too?

My goodness, I started this post 18 months ago. Had forgotten all about it till now.

So I bought a G9, found it did not have LVC at that time, so after 6 months of use sold it and bought a G90, contrary to some that have a low opinion of it I have found it to be much better than expected, and in many ways equal and sometimes superior to the G9.

And it does have LVC plus no limit on video length, other than size of mem card or state of battery charge. But as I seldom use video that feature is not used by myself.

I know what you mean. The G90 is highly underrated, but is in my opinion far more flexible than the G9 in some areas of operation and functionality. Many commentators get into tunnel vision mode with the 4K crop factor as if it 4K video is the main purpose of buying a camera. But fortunately G90 owners like us have been able to see beyond the naysayers and smoke screens.

I saw the youtuber microfournerds doing star trails on an OM body and thought "that's cool, maybe I can use my G9 for this" and was sadly disappointed. Did a search, came here, signed the petition, which is at 1683 sigs now.

Folk have been making star trail images for decades ,it is not rocket science the OM method makes life easier but that is all . Digital makes it very straightforward
