I'll probably cancel and reorder through Amazon if it happens. I've got a trip coming up that I'd like to thoroughly test the lens out during.

I have an order in with Adorama. What is the Adorama penalty that was mentioned?

They will be closed for Passover, so will B&H.
While Amazon and Best Buy and others will be shipping

I had to carry the Sigma 14mm ART with me on a recent trip because this lens wasn't available. 1st world problems.:-D

I have the 14-24 2.8 lens didnt realise that the 14-30 was going to be released for the s lens whilst I love the 14-24 I would love it better if I didnt have to have bought an expensive filter holder and filter or have that very heavy weight to cart around

Agreed! I had to use the Sigma Art 14-24 f2.8 on my cruise. Sure was a pita lugging it around and using the adapters, FTZ and Lee system. The lens did an excellent job though, but not worth the added weight and bulkiness. When I switched back to my 24-70 f4, it was like holding a feather.

Ok, so maybe Adorama ships what they get in their initial shipment tomorrow and then anyone that didn't make that shipment gets the "Adorama penalty" (assuming they receive more stock before they re-open). It seems possible that end of March orders would miss the initial shipment if the demand really is high.
It does seem possible. It's hard to know what is reasonable to expect. How many people ordered? How many did they get in? That sort of thing. If 10,000 people ordered one through Adorama (seems unlikely), it's pretty unreasonable to expect them to get and move that many immediately.
Tomorrow should be telling. If Amazon opens regular orders without a shipping delay, I feel like I should have no problems. If it's immediately on backorder, I'm probably out of luck.
The fact that Nikon has already warned about 14-30 pre-orders exceeding supply, I think you are out of luck (and me too).
That's not exactly what they said (based on Google translate). In addition, it's hard to know if any of that is serving double purpose as marketing, and whether that's talking worldwide or country specific.
Nonetheless, we'll see very shortly. It won't be the end of the world if I don't get it in time.

I ordered mine last weekend. A B&W filter and peak design leash arrive today. I'm hoping it ships today or tomorrow but not getting my hopes up

Yes and the other unknown is when they actually receive the shipment from NIkon.
True. I guess my only annoyance is lack of information. They should know where everyone is on the list and how many they expect to receive. It should be easy to just say, "Well, you're 474th on the list and we expect to get 250."
