Write to card AND computer while tethered?

Hi all

quick help needed, fist studio shoot with the z7 shortly and forgot to check this - any idea where the setting is to write to card and computer when tethered please? It’s only writing to the laptop at the moment...

The setting will be in whatever software you're using to tether. It's not a setting on the camera itself.
 
Ah really? Thanks both I’ll take a look. On my a7riii it was a menu setting in the camera...
 
I’m not sure you can do it - that’s an oversight, great way to solve the one card issue when appropriate to have a laptop with you. I’ll keep hunting and hoping I’m wrong. On the sony there’s a quick menu option to write to both, you’d think that would be straightforward to add on the Z7 too?

Not the the end of the world, but a shame if you can’t...

The camera supports it. I use it all the time with gphoto2.

Which program are/were you using for a7rii? My son has been using his EM1 and has had no problem but is starting to use his a7rii with the new Imaging Edge. At this point only Studio stills. He has PS and LR for PP.

I was tethering with Capture one for the sony, but the sony has an in camera menu setting to write to both, looks like the Nikon relies on the host software

It's under the heading 'connect to PC' or something similar, near the remote settings - apologies, I can't remember exactly where.

I had to ask someone on the sony forum, let me see if I can find their answer for you, hang on

PC Remote Settings > Still Img Save> PC + Camera.
 
Thanks , his school is using Capture One but all of his instructors are well versed in PS and LR and he has been using those since he was 10. Will probably go Capture One Pro next term so he can use with Nikon , Sony, and Olympus.

Thanks. I don't see that on the A7rII, which is what I searched on since that model was mentioned here - not your fault since you did say you were using the A7rIII. Here's the manual entry for it:

A7rIII Online Manual: PC Remote Settings: Still Img. Save Dest.
