A 15% off coupon is available if you have an account with Buydig. Quantities seem to be very limited. Amazon has the same sale but without the 15% off coupon.
I bought one to complement or maybe replace my trusted and much-enjoyed S1. Comments from owners of both models indicating pros and cons would be welcome. Also, of course, (links to) tips and tricks particular to the J4.
I think that's a really good deal. Let us know when it arrives. Image-quality-wise, it's the same as my V3, which does really well in most situations.
Only a deal if it is a J5.
It is a overprice for J4. A few years back, Target cleareds them out new for less than $149 IIRC. I bought mine on eBay for $150 with two lens (10-30 and 30-110mm) couple years back as well. Since this is a refurb, it is not any better than buy a used one on eBay (refurbs doesn't have the same warranty as new).
Having both J4 and J5, the PQ of J4 lacks way behind J5. I would not spend that kind of cash on a J4 at this time (same for V3), IMO
I have to admit that when I'm thinking prices, I'm often thinking in Canadian dollars. At $179 CDN, that's a good price, and perhaps only an average US$ cost. As far as reconditioned goes, I'd rather have it checked over by Nikon and know that it works than go by the word of an unknown user. If it has a warranty (even a short one) and a return policy, that's what I'm most concerned about -- most electronics will either work or not in the first few months. Besides, this system's issues aren't usually the cameras, but the lenses. Yes, a J5 would be better, and you simply can't beat the image quality; but again, for most uses, the V3 and even my V1 will work well enough. For important shots, I'll always pick up a larger camera. I bought into the N1 system for convenience, size and stealth, then quality -- in that order.
