Nikki - awesome model shot with 4' DIY ring light , home depot 5k led bulbs. She does a lot of cosplay . @starlotcosplay on IG

Love the model and the pose. She exudes personality. A bit more DOF to get her right eye in focus would have improved the photo to my liking. My only real dislike is the corneal reflection of the ring light. It just gives her an alien appearance!

nice apart from the horrific catchlights

agreed a bit more dof as well for a turned face

I agree - nice image (with these minor things to critique according to taste).

EDIT - I can't quite tell why, but the WB just strikes me as slightly off. Did you use a reference and correct in post?

The catchlight doesn't bother me - considering the context.

My issue would be the subtle color blotches in her skin (arms, hands, and face). I think they could be smoothed out a bit to give a more even color.

In all a lovely portrait.

Hi Dem2u,

Nice portrait. Wondering about how oof her right shoulder is, no matter though.

I agree: beautiful image & model. And needs more DoF. For my tastes, not a fan of the ring light. For starters, it's broad lit. I can't help but wonder how this would have looked short lit with more of a loop or Rembrandt lighting pattern.

Can't get past the catch lights.

I'd clone out the little white string at the base of the part on her wig.

Most of the time I hate the look of ring lights but this looks great!

A charming shot for this subject. I personally am put off by ring lights in eyes but that is only because they seem artificial to the max. Why, I guess because the old masters used sunlight, the main source, which was reflected by windows or later on, incandescents. Maybe one day I will get used to their magic. But the placement of her fingers is sweet and delicate. Overall lighting, and pose work quite well. Good work.

Beautiful model and posing, the ring light dominates the eye.

just a shade darker does it for me.The dress loses the colour variations the face gains it.More often than not, I like the darker versions anyway.

Just no. In my view that edit wasn't good at all.

It is the same color blotches that get enhanced when the original 0.67 EV is corrected to neutral.

'enhanced' :-x

This is up my alley. Nice portrait. One note like the first reply. The corneal eye ring. Thats the one thing I don't like about ring flashes. It gives an alien 👽 like precence but a beautiful one I must add.
