I’m currently shooting a Zeiss 2/25 ZF.2 adapted with the FTZ on my Z7. I’ve been thinking about going a little wider now that there are some alternatives with M adapters. My initial interest is in the Voigtlander 21/1.8 M-mount for both its IQ and weight (about a third lighter than the Zeiss).

I have two concerns, but they seem to be less of an issue with the larger Z mount and thinner sensor stack: edge sharpness and CA. Has anyone tried this lens on a Z6/7? What adapter are you using? Would you recommend a different CV around 21mm?

If I sell my 25, I still have the Voigtlander 40/2 Ultron and 58 Nokton to balance the range. But, I do like how the 25 draws and I don’t want to give that away.

Sensor stack is much forgivable that Sony cameras, if you have time I would recommend

FM forum, lots of clever people there, talking M-lenses:

I am new Z6 shooter here myself (waiting close focus adapter for my M-glass-widest is my ZM 25/2.8)

I use the new 21/3.5 and corners are good.

I believe both the 3.5 and 1.8 are new designs that reduce corner smear dramatically. Same for the v3 of the 12 and 15. Any older wide will have smeared corners

If I am not answering your provoking post, maybe you were welcomed in my ignore list.

Thank you, plenty of great information in that thread... looks like at least a morning of reading. :)

Is that the new “vintage” 21/35 or the E-mount?

The 21 Ultron VM is excellent on the Z7, however it is neither small nor light. Do you mean the new VM 21mm f/3.5 Color Skopar? There is a thread on FM with some good info on this little guy. A new E mount 21mm f/1.4 has been announced as well. On the other hand, what about one of the legacy Nikkor 20mm lenses?

The vintage m mount one

Voigtlander will soon put into market couple of new adapters, including VM-Z, VM-Z close focus. They are well made, with a high price tag assumed.

I kept the Voigtlander 40/2, and let go the 58/1.4, too much CA wide open with my copy.
