What Will We Call Mirrorless Cameras

when no new cameras are offered with mirrors?
Well, I think that will take a very long time.

And since when that time comes, there will still be old cameras with mirrors, I think we should keep the mirrorless moniker.

That "horseless carriage" quickly became shortened to "car".

So "mirrorless camera" should likewise be shortened to "cam".
Why of course, besides pictures are now "pics" (pix?).

But word on the grapevine has heard a little birdie disclose there is the new slang in use among a certain clique who have been using the term, "piccie". Obviously one would have to connected to have this inside scoop. So the cam, for those in the know will soon refer to the handheld photon graphical capturing image rendering device as the "cammy". You heard it here first...

When mirrors no longer come built in to the camera one could always use the bathroom walls in order to take selfies. They have mirrors on them. I saw it on the internet, so it must be true.

Done it myself. There was a mirror in a Hotel recently and my wife and I took a dualie and sent it our son. I had never seen such a thing, it was glorious.

When I look in a mirror there is nobody there, is that me or the mirror being the problem?

Hmmm... maybe it's just a bathroom wall and not a mirror then. Will have to do some googol research. Did you make sure to turn the light switch on first?

I hate to break it to you...

Maybe we could call them what they are - cameras.

There's no need to add words about the features they don't have.
Do you consider a mirror in a camera a feature? Hmmmm????
Yes, because I consider an OVF a feature.
So you think a mirror is an OVF?????
Why do you do this? Is it narcissism or just an infantile need to see your words on a screen and wonder if anyone appreciates your sophomoric attempts at being clever?

You are aware that trolling is frowned upon?

It is a necessary part of an OVF in an SLR.
Don't feed the troll.

Time out for you to reflect upon your actions.

You know that regular people don't say "MILC," they don't say "DSLR," they don't say "mirrorless camera," and they don't say "point and shoot"?

They just say, "Camera."

I doubt that will change.

want a mirror in my camera because I want an OVF in my camera. For me an OVF is a feature, specifically tied to TTL viewing and that's a defining feature of SLR cameras and in the context of this discussion mirrorless cameras don't have OVF because they don't have mirrors.
Gosh ... WHAT are you GOING TO DO when they don't make any more (new) cameras w/ "mirrors" ???
Not buy a new camera unless I have a use for it such as for maybe landscape photography.
I see a SAD day coming for you ...
I have yet to buy a new D850, which can easily be the last camera I buy.
Unless I specify needed the higher mpx, I would probably get the A9 if I needed a FF today. (a new paradigm in fps)

...I'm not interested in dealing with parallax errors.
But most all "rangefinder" type cameras had parallax "correction", (which worked quite well until very close). I used to do 3' images and subject was perfectly centered.
It's a limitation of the camera's functionality. It gets worse as focus distance decreases, and the perspective you are seeing in the viewfinder is always different by some amount from what the camera lens is recording.
Yes ... totally agree ... macro was out-of-question ... and I made mental correction for perspective ... but "framing" was perfectly accurate w/ auto-optical parallax-correction.

Some (cheaper) rangefinder-cameras simply had "2" frames for either distance or 3'.

How about ................. "Mirrorless cameras"

Danny.
Automobiles stopped being called “horseless carriages” a long time ago. It’s better to call it what it is than what it isn’t. Digital Interchangeable Lens Camera/DILC is fine.
I’ve been using “ILC” for quite a while.
Kind of like how there’s no point in saying “Digital SLR” there’s no point in saying “Digital ILC” either.
