I'd rather buy EOS RP with 50mm f/1.2

I love Fuji. But If I need ultimate fast lens I rather go for larger sensor than buying these lenses.

Difference is, the Fuji lens body won't be made of plastic. You get what you pay for.

Generally, reading tends to help.
"But before you freak out and panic, I must tell you that, when stores don’t know the final price but want to place an item up already for people to see and get interest, they can add a random pricing to them.

We have covered such “price-holders” in the past here on FujiRumors, such as the Fujifilm X-M1 for $9,999. Although in today’s case it does look more like a “guessed” price than a completely random one, since both lenses have a very different price tag.

So let’s hope this Czech store will keep up making terribly wrong guesses, like they did with the brand new Fujinon XF16mm f/2.8, which in their not yet updated product page has a price tag of $887 (19,990 czech crown), when in truth it costs $399."
Unless you are planning on spending 887$ for the 16mm f2.8, before you panic or just start complaining about the 3k pricetag on the 33mm, you could consider that this is a guessed price way above the actual one. I expect the 33mm to be around 1.5k.

This is one of the "rumors" people should ignore. They could have written 10 000$
I think that FUji still does not know final price so how could they ?

There's no doubt this is going to be an expensive lens. But since it seems to me Fujifilm wishes to have it in their roster to go against FF options - in order to show APS-C is just as viable an option - they need, and are going, to offer it at a competitive price compared to the FF equivalents.

No, you don't. Metal is not so much more expensive than plastic. Way overpriced niche lens, this 33 F1.
And you know the price ?
It's fascinating, how little people read.

Fake news! 😡

To put on my tinfoil hat real quick...I swear Fuji rumors operates directly on behalf of Fuji and this post is nothing more than something to get conversation going in the comment section of just how much people would pay for it.

Sounds good. I'm in.

While Fuji may not know the exact price, they DO know the recurring cost for the lens - cost of materials and labor to build - and they know the NRE - all the development cost. It is just a matter of Fuji determining how many units to budget for recovering the NRE. I expect this is an expensive lens to build and I also expect this was an expensive lens to design. Remember they have had a start and stop on it and their accounts know how to count. Is 3 K right? Maybe maybe not but Fuji has a very good idea of what the price will be because they know the cost.

But one should consider that there are a few very good options in manual focus fast normal lenses that go for around 500 bucks. It gets down to how much is AF worth.

Also it should be remembered that the 50 Leica Noctilix is on the order of 11,000 bucks almost 3X times the price of the 50 Crone.

Time will tell on this.

Probably will be :-D

The issue gets down to bending light. It would be much to design a small fast lens if you had the use of lens elements with a negative index of refraction. The unfortunate thing about glass is its index of refraction is approximately 1.5. That means it can only bend the propagation ray in one direction (toward the center) and not away. . So multiple pieces of glass is required to do simple things. Look at how many elements the modern lenses have.

It's going to take using new materials with a negative index of refraction, i.e. meta materials before designing such lenses will be easy or result in a small fast lens. The first step will be glass with meta material surfaces. We are close

Today meta material microwave antenna are common place and an antenna is nothing more than a lens - focusing power to a point. It won't be long until we will have the technology for the optical region of the spectrum.

Glass is rapidly approaching its limit.

Yup saw it. All in.

It's hard to believe, but it's the undisputable truth.

The marketing department decided to settle on this price to make the lens a selling point for the whole system. Having the 50mm 1.4 FF equivalent for less than 1K make the whole FF vs APS-C discussion moot. Get a Fuji, best color, best price, period.

:)
