Rumored specs of new FF Canon EOS RP

If Canon is not able to make affordable 4K from full sensor, why there is no option to 1440p? There will be at least some room to crop/straighten video to decent 1080p?
I'm still not convinced that there is real demand for 4K from stills camera buyers. It's become a weapon to use in the online camera brand wars. I don't think people are really processing and cropping video like that.
Thank you for pointing out the obvious. Yes some serious shooters may want 4K, but especially those looking at lower price point cameras then 4K is not a big desire.

Yes, and that's why people keep buying Canon cameras with no or lesser 4K. But that shouldn't be an excuse for not having proper 4K. Canon has technical issues and luckily for Canon, it's not hurting them much yet.

Do we know that? Some speculate that Canon cannot do this or that, but we do not know. Only Canon execs and engineers know.

We do know that Canon puts out more patents than other camera companies, has a large R&D budget, they have to spend it on something, and is an industry leader. Perhaps they just make different business decisions based on the market needs.

Perhaps Canon puts more emphasis on what the end user really wants and needs, versus chasing the approval of internet pundits based on spec sheets.

One more thing to keep in mind about innovation: sometimes we see it incrementally, but other times we see little advancement followed by a large leap. The large leap is due to tech that was in development. We didn't see it, assumed nothing was happening, but then, boom! To us it looks like it happened overnight, almost instantly, but in reality it was years in quiet development.

So at this point it's all assumptions on our part as to what Canon can and cannot achieve from a tech standpoint.

The RP is supposed to feature eye AF in AF-C and I don't think that the moedel below the R will feature better AF. So my bet is that the new fw update for the R is coming with the introduction of the RP...

This will be the best selling camera out of the gate. The perfect first time buyers serious camera with an upgrade path to the higher end Canon FF mirrorless cameras. And a Vloggers dream camera so the influencers will be out in force pushing it .

Let's not be too enthusiastic otherwise we have to collect so much again, it will be a nice starter. the 6D but then mirrorless.

I do not even own a card fast enough to shoot 4K...
Well, that really says something, as you are such a trend-setter ;)
