Putting aside the P-series Kodaks, what is your all-time favorite? You may also have a second if you like. I'd be interested in hearing your reasons for your choice.

From my list: Z990 (not owned any more), Z915, AZ652, DX7590, C875, DX6440, C190, M420, V803

It is much easier to mention the only one I don't like. The V1073. The touch screen is too fiddly, the LCD is way too dim and the little zoom rocker switch is easy to break. Still, the output is great.

For easy carry around, I like the V1253, Z950 and ZD8612.

The Zx12 series are all fantastic bridges that can use the same wide angle and tele lens accessories. I still find shots from the Z712 around online that are simply stunning!

Of course I'm still "collecting" so I might have "new" favorites in the future. :-D

What happened to the Z990 and why do you no longer have it? Why is it your number one pick?

Ha, that was before you came back to the Forum.

I had the 990 for a few years. Then the zoom started to have problem. It was not zooming smoothly. I thought might be the contact in the toggle switch. I was able to take it apart and using contact cleaner to clean the switch contact. Did it a few times, still not solved the problem. Then few months later, the zoom totally dead. I can still use it as dedicated wide angle only camera. Eventually I gave it to a friend who want to try out digital camera.

990 has excellent SK lens and IQ. I like the natural colors it reproduce. It use 4 AA which is cheap and easy to get. Due to the 4 AA, the grip is big and easy to hold. The BSI 16M sensor was good up to ISO800. The menu logic is a bit weird and take some time to get used to. Buffering is slow, especially when the SD card started to filled up. However I think the good out weighted the bad.

I have to name 2 favorites as I can't choose the favorite: my Z915 and Z950. I had the Z950 first and then after seeing some of Chiue's images from his Z915, I had to get one. They are still great cameras for travel or general photography.

Thanks, chiue, Jim. Appreciated the input as well as the images.

Now tell me (if you like): would you consider buying an older Kodak in "nearly new to new" condition OR would you go with the newer PixPro's and why would you make that choice?

Hard to said. The older Kodak as I see has better IQ. (SK lens and even the Retina lens IMO are better than the PixPro lens). And I think the old Kodak colors are better. However the response time of the PixPro is much better than the old Kodak.

I probably would if I run into a 'new' condition old Kodak.

Wow, not a easy question to answer as they both bring something to the table. Why not both? While I like the AZ901, for grab and go and incredible reach, I slightly prefer the smaller size of the AZ652. It's such a compact camera that reminds me of my former Panasonic FZ200..easy to carry anywhere. That said, I'll likely never sell (maybe give away) my Z950 or Z915 as they always seem to grab a good photo in any light with beautiful color. If one breaks (or gets wet kayaking), it's easily replaced as they are very affordable on eBay. My favorite combo would be the Z915 (ever so slightly over the Z950 since smaller/lighter) and the Az652 for the flip screen, faster image processing, hd video (very stable), excellent reach at 65X optical and very good IQ. Use the thank you coupon code Kodak Pixpro gave me for the DPR Kodak crowd: JIM20 for 20% off any camera at kodakpixpro.com.

A quick look at eBay for the Z915: https://www.ebay.com/itm/Kodak-Z-91...0:g:-h0AAOSw1Exb-v1W:rk:2:pf:1&frcectupt=true

Hi,

I have a Z712 that I bought from a local Thrift store for $4. I love it. It produces a depth of atmosphere that's hard to describe. The only other camera that does similarly is my DSCV1. I have several other "better" cameras (FZ150, F70EXR, DMC ZS1 and others) but I always seem to reach for the Z712. My only problem with it is getting a charger and CR-V3s. I refuse to pay what they ask for it online.

The EVF is also a big attraction, along with the long zoom.

Thanks for the information, John. Nice to see you here. If you get a chance, I'd like to see an image taken with your Kodak. Take care.

Hi Wayne,

Here's one of my favourites. The date is wrong. Since I only have non-rechargeables I disconnect the battery when I'm finished shooting, and it defaults to January 2007 at start up.

Very nice, particularly the "natural" colors (I dislike hd and vivid but that's just a personal preference). When viewed at 100% I could clearly read the signs. Markham Road? Is this somewhere near Toronto? I lived the first 52 years of my life in Niagara Falls.

Don't the colors just knock your socks off!!!!
I know. I think the yellows are my favourite Kodak colours. I just love how I never have to use photoshop or lightroom for my Z7590. I'm always happy with what my camera dishes out.

Wow, good eyes. It look like Hwy 407 exit to Markham Road intersection. But will need to be confirm by Shinner.

Oh yes. It's a very nice camera. Yes, I live in Markham, just north of Toronto. But Markham road goes south, almost to the lake, and of course it's Hwy 48 going north.

Hi chiue,

Yes, that's exactly were it is. But I took the picture from the Ninth line, the next exit over.
