The CIC 187 is the next challenge in the ongoing CIC Photo Challenge. It is intended to be fun and to encourage participants to get out and shoot more.

The topic or theme is Dominant Color.

The photo should have a dominant color that immediately attracts the viewer’s eye to the subject. There are many ways to achieve this.

Please join us in our photo challenge; everyone is welcome to be a part of our group.

The Eligible Gallery: is for images captured with any camera, any brand, but during the Challenge period.

The Exhibition Gallery: is for images taken any time with any camera

Entries:

Challenge Ends: Tuesday, January 29, 2019 23:59 UTC

Voting Begins: Wednesday, January 30, 2019 00:00 UTC

I've posted two I'm considering for Eligible in Pending. I'm wrestling with whether to enter them because they are both images of works of art created by others.

I can understand your dilemma, as I have wrestled with it myself. My general conclusion (for me) is that I will shoot art in context for challenges; ie, when there is something else in the frame. Thus, a photo of the painting like you show in pending is kept in my photo library to enjoy. The statue of the albatross is different. However, in this case, the colored base draws my eye away from the bird.

The distraction of the colored base is what prompted me to consider the albatross as an entry for this challenge. It's an object I have long wanted to photograph outside (particularly for the art and architecture challenge), with a brilliant blue sky in the background. Yesterday afternoon, however, sunlight streaming in a window (on what was a very cold day) caught my attention, and I grabbed my camera before Mother Nature could have second thoughts. The sunlight also illuminated the painting, so I shot that as well. If nothing else, I now have record copies of the pair. Thanks for your thoughts.

Is anyone else getting this message when posting comments on Pbase photos? The last few days I've gotten this every time and on every device I use. After I hit refresh the comment appears. Very odd! Paul

I started getting it last night - with the same result you did. The comment was taken.

Me too. I saw my comment posted this morning.

...to Jim and Dave re the Set Up, Paul-Like, on my Rain-red image. It was some effort...but poof, it was gone....maybe a week ago.

Well, stuff happens...probably my fault.

I’m always excited when it’s near the end of a challenge and I peek at the vote booth and the booth has picked up the challenge. It was showing as early as Friday so I call that good news. Paul

I agree. Jack has been on his game recently.

I don't think so. Something seems to be up with entering comments. I'll try to remember to copy my comments before hitting the "add comment" button so I still have them in case things go awry. They can always be posted here so long as the subject photo is referenced.
