85mm S 1.8

I could see the 85/1.8 being the next lens they release after the 14-30.

I actually love my xpro2, I think the form factor works best for me. However, slowly I’m getting more used to the Nikon. I think everything works better, and the output is miles apart from my Fuji. The EVF, which I used most of the time, is way better than the xpro2, but then again, this camera is meant to give you the advantages of hybrid view finder.

I also like the OOC jpegs even more, so most probably I will end up selling my Fuji.

Which Fuji do you have?

Had the X-T1, traded it in toward Z gear, along with my 23 and 56mm. (Never could get interested in that hybrid VF somehow, despite having used both SLRs and rangefinders in the past.)

What do you prefer about the Z6 jpegs? I do think they're good, though the only advantage I've noticed so far is less of a tendency for a blue sky to go cyan. Then again I've had issues with Z6 white balance and had to tweak it (and don't really trust its AWB).

Fantastic images and photography, great to see! It must be nice to have the 85 focus super accurately. :)

Lovely images!

I'm also very happy with the 85 1.8G on my Z - so much so that I doubt very strongly that I will get a S version.

In fact, my 85 1.8G is now being used more that it ever did on my DSLRs - thanks to IBIS !

Thanks Ernie,

Indeed the focus is very accurate and the addition of the FTZ adaptor to this lens mounted on a Z camera results into a nice balance and feel...

The 1.8G is pretty sharp at f2.2, it's also light and you won't break the bank with this one!
Yeah, I just bought a used 1.8G for $300. I figured I can use it on my Z6 via the FTZ, as well as my D500, and decide what I want to do when the 1.8S is released. Even if I sell the 1.8G, I won't lose more than $50 on the whole deal because used prices have stabilized at their current level.

Having said that, I have the 35mm 1.8G and 58 1.4G, and having shot with those on the Z6 I really have no intent to "upgrade" to the new S versions. Partly because I find the F-mount glass "good enough" for my uses, and partly because I can share them between my Z6 and D500.

Thanks Jacques,

Yes IBIS and accurate on-sensor focussing are Godsent !

I just hope that AF-C in dimmed light will be somehow improved with the announced firmware update.

I’m okay with the AWB, and all I get to shoot nowadays are my kids indoors, so horrible light. I think the jpegs are sharper, no waxy skin, no weird worms in landscape shots, better sky colors and better colors in general and way cleaner and more dynamic range. Do I need to say more?
