I am building a Spreadsheet/Database for different Film Emulation Recipes for Jpegs.

The Google Docs SpreadSheet :

The Suggested Name is based on the fact that FUJI Cameras do not save/store the WB Shift parameters. So a Name "3R-2B chrome" means after selecting the preset shift your white balance R by +3 and Blue by -2.

I have given due credit to these recipe creators as well as a link to their website./blogs.

If you have some special recipe to share please provide in this thread I will add them to the database. (a url with the recipe preview would be useful) .

The List is not yet complete and I will add more recipes to it over time.

There are 3 custom banks that you can save 3 separate WB shift parameters.

Do these custom WB Settings work as Auto in changing light?

I use them for film simulations such as Fuji 400H and Vintage Kodachrome and you can set the white balance by taking a picture and letting the camera do it automatically or you can use a pocket white balance card. But it won’t change automatically from night to day or room to room from artificial light to natural sunlight but taking one picture in white balance set up is quick. It’s a lot faster than setting the parameters every time you change film simulations.

After all is said and done and your photo is hanging on the wall, no one is going to know or care what camera, lens, or what post processing you used. All they care about is if the image moves them.

Here is another source for film sim recipes:

For anyone unaware,

You can add/save these recipes to your Fuji X Raw studio as profiles and then apply to your raws later. Just be aware of applying the wb-shift parameters for each image after applying the profile.

Great Topic :).

It's a pity that you can't save the white balance shifts in camera.

Does anyone know how to remove recipes in RAW studio?

Right-click on the saved profile and then delete user profile. In windows RAW Studio version.

Thanks will try that once i get home. Should work on a mac aswell

This is an amazing idea.

it would be nice to have sample images for each recipe, directly in the document ...
I don't want to step on recipe creators toes. Having a link to their website should drive a little traffic to them as well as provide you content/description on the recipe as well.

My Goal is to collect enough data about some known emulations to find out some data patterns.

For Example the effect of WB deviations from Zero/Origin:

Classic Chrome Based recipes usually go around with +2 to +3 Red and -3 to -4 Blue for the classic looks.

IOW, Third Quadrant is the Most Preferred Color Zone. ... and henceforth..

I have a very specific question that’s related to the ‘Color Chrome Effect’ in the X-T3 and GFX. https://fujifilm-x.com/global/stories/gfx-technologies-6/
Fujifilm themselves have said it can be created in Post processing, but that it would take time (at the link above).
I was wondering if anyone has tried to recreate the color chrome effect on an X-T2/X-H1 file? Also is it possible to add it to one of these files using the Fuji raw converter (based on silkypix)?

unlikely, as only fuji engineers know the process and only supported fuji cameras have that algorithm implemented in them. There is a lot that can be done in photoshop (much more using frequency separation), but if that true to what fuji does is something only they could answer.

Here's a ScatterP lot showing some film simulations preference for white balance shifts (tints). Not an exact science but makes easier to remember. Haven't figured out yet how to treat overlapping labels in google sheets.

In the past, if you used and Exif Editor to change your camera model you would have access to the newer film sims.
