Sale on the Olympus 40-150mm f/2.8 Pro lens at Massdrop ongoing right now. $879, intl. version. Even for the non-USA version that is a pretty amazing price.

Just FYI. Hope everyone is having a great Holiday!

That does look an amazing deal. What about warranty repair services from US? The site said contact the website ans not Olympus for warranty services. That worry me.

Fantastic lens for the money. I paid $800 for a used one. Love it.

Massdrop is a pretty well known site, but that is a genuine concern for US buyers. One can buy an aftermarket warranty, and perhaps someone here has some feedback on that. I look at it like buying a used lens in perfect (new) condition. I guess the other issue for me is that in the 15 years or so of shooting with E.Zuiko and M.Zuiko glass not once have I had a problem with one, but I am pretty easy on my gear.

Agree, I never had any problem with my Olympus lenses either. I kept hearing people saying Olympus US refuses services to lenses buying outside US even though you are willing to pay for the services; or was it Panasonic?

Probably Panny. I have had used grey market Oly 4/3 lenses repaired without issue. Cost was minimal, too (like less than $200 to repair one of my f2 zooms). Don't know if that policy still is in effect, however.

Thanks for the confirmation.

After market warranties are pretty cheap. Paid $40 for a one year warranty on an EM-1.

I wonder if inventory is being moved to make way for an updated version of this lens?

Olympus will only do warranty repairs on USA lenses. However, since they outsource all USA repairs, you could probably still get it repaired if you pay for the service.

This is super tempting. I currently own the 14-150mm f4-5.6 lens, besides the obvious difference in aperture, is the IQ significantly different between the two? I assume auto-focus speed is also a big factor as well with the pro lenses.

The 40-150 f2.8 will be far sharper than the 14-150 f4-5.6 and allow use of lower ISO further improving IQ. It is also larger and heavier.

I have both and this is true. the 14-150 can surprise me with very good IQ sometimes. Its a travel lens for me. But when I want to make the best image I take the 40-150PRO. I sometimes find when I take the 14-150 I wish I had the 40-150PRO with me.
