Another A1 sample : Buteo

Hi Andreas,

If memory serves me correctly, early last year, you posted a similar "Bird of Prey" photo, which I believe was taken with a D7i. I hope I'm not wrong in my recollection. If I'm correct, could you post that picture along with the A1 Bird of Prey picture, so we can get a better idea of color saturation?

By the way, as always, your BOP photos are really striking and impressive.
Nice job.

Hello,

I haven't seen any Night shots with 1 to 10 seconds shutter times. Could you please take some and post when you have the time, or can anyone point me to such FULL SIZE samples to download?

Hi,

The following sample is downsized and processed but IMHO still
shows one advantage of the A1 compared to the D7i/Hi: The colors
are much better.

Geir, you should take a look at the rest of his gallery. You would have found that he has just what you're looking for.

Andreas I hope you don't mind that I am posting this from your gallery. If you do please accept my apologies for doing so. But it is a fine image and you do take great photographs with the A1.

Hi Andreas

I'm sure that everytime I glance away from my computer screen then look at that picture again I see the bird's pupil widening - as though while I was looking away it had narrowed and was considering me it's prey!

I'm seriously considering buying the A1 at the moment and have greatly appreciated your input to this forum.

Have you found it necessary to do much post-processing on your A1 images?

Regards

Paul

even the "original" there is downscaled to 1212 * 852 pixels, meaning that noise is masked. I want to see full size images so I can study the noise levels there ....

Your memory is good! Here is a similiar picture taken with the D7i:

Okay, it is difficult to compare directly because probably there will be a different color temperature.

Personally i like the straight out of the camera colors of the A1 much better than out of the D7i. On the other hand it is not a big job to adjust
the colors of the D7i.
Significant differences are with extern flashes (i.g. studio strobes). Here the
A1 is definately better. The D7i (at least my one) had an wrong color balance.

Unfortunately i don't have the sufficient web space for it. I guess on Steves digicams there is a night shot.

No. The A1 (as the D7 series) offers so much presets (contrast, saturation etc) that you (if you want) store your favorite setups and have a minimal
postprocessing work.

Yes, space is sure a problem :-) Thanks anyway: I have looked at the samples at Steves place, but thought yours was nices: Just needed the full size. E-mail me the full size of http://www.pbase.com/image/21267252 ; if you have the time for it, but I guess you get pretty preoccupied with everyone wishing this and that :-)

Thanks

Compared to e.g. the D7 (I don't remember if you had / have one as
well)
I found the D7 faired well there, but was rather slow.
Personally i see an improvement to my D7i. But this is a very subjective statement. I would wait for Phils tests under controlled conditions.
