Hello,

I have an 27" iMac 2012 with smth like 6000 to 7000 running hours. He is a bit weary but I don't plan to replace it as I have other priorities.

My question is does it help general performances if I create a new Lightroom Catalog ?

Developing performance is not so bad with my D850 raws, could be better but this is ok. It's more about navigating and the overall performance of LR.

I have like 250 go of pictures, I regularly optimise the catalog but it is a bit old, like 7yrs.

Best,

Best,
Exactly what performance problem (please be very specific) are you experiencing?

The general advice is that catalog size is rarely a cause of Lightroom being slow (exception: making a catalog backup does take longer with larger catalogs). There are probably a dozen more likely other reasons for having performance problems.

I would not be surprised if the speed of your old computer is the actual problem.

Do you mean 250 GB of images? That is not much. How big is your catalogue. As dj mentioned a second catalogue will probably not help.

If you open preferences - Performance tab you will find this link at the bottom. Give it a try.
