This month through your adapted lenses - November 2018

This five-element lens is a bit awkward to use as it requires a focusing mount and two adapters to work on my camera, but I think its renders colors and depth very nicely with digital. The optics are single coated. I bought it new in 1968, by the way.

I am once again late to the party... this was taken in October but I wasn't able to sort through my pictures until last weekend.

This particular Tessar lens has what is apparently known as a “Vorwahlspringblende” . Which means that the aperture is set by pressing down the aperture ring and then turning it. If you just turn the aperture ring the aperture blades will reset to the initial position. It is an all aluminium construction and looks cute :-)

Vintage person with a bit of a thing for vintage lenses...

Thanksgiving weekend so very few girls showed up and all ages were merged.

All shot wide open at f/5.6 with SS fixed at 1/1600, ISO was on auto. Cropped and minor tweaks to the SOOC jpg's in Picasa. ( I had a bunch a pics that the coach wanted to post and didn't have the time or patience to edit all the RAWs)

And of course here is the lens: A Minolta Celtic 100-200mm f/5.6 - $5 dollars from a thrift store. This was my first go with the lens, and I think it performed very well for the price. The pics, when I nailed focus, were decently sharp.

The lens itself is rather long, zoom was stif,f and pics taken at the long end were not very sharp. It also has a fairly large minimal focusing distance. Between the minimum focusing distance and the and the relatively slow aperture, this is definitely an outdoor daylight only lens.

This is a really good one! Good light, good composition, and I like the silhouettes in the background.

This lens sells for under $200 brand new. It's supposedly a knock off of the Venus 15mm f4 without a shift included.

Impressions so far:

It's a manual focus lens. Set it pretty much to infinity and go. This shot the dogs were about 3 feet in front of me. The dog on the left is about an inch taller and 4 pounds heavier than the dog on the right which means they are close to the same size.. This lens REALLY doesn't tell the truth.

110 degree view packs a lot into a shot. Vignette in the corners.

Everything is falling in towards the center. A little shift would have helped this out. I found when shift was used the vignette went up noticeably in the corners though. I was thinking there was horrible CA until I realized the extension cord in about the middle of the picture is actually purple !

Cropped and adjusted light. This was shot through a window.

This lens will be a lot of fun. To use it just about stand on top of what ever you are shooting because it's 15mm. The lens hood on it is cheap and rotates past where it should. It is a smooth set for the f-stop with no option for solid stops.

First impressions are it is going to be different than most lenses and a lot of fun.

Grant.

Excellent!

I like the first best, followed by the third. The second is pretty busy, and the bokeh in the third is more intrusive than I'd like. (Reminds me a lot of the bokeh from the Yashica ML 50/1.7 - not quite swirly, but starting to suggest it.

Ooh, sounds interesting. :) Can you post a pic or two of the lens?

That pale blue reminds me strongly of house colors from where both sets of grandparents used to live, on farms up in northern Illinois near DeKalb. Adds a nice touch of color to the winter scene without overpowering it.

Where was it taken? :)

This has a nice atmosphere; I think it'd work a little better if you moved in closer to that solitary fencepost, make it a little more prominent.
This one's almost the opposite; good focus on the planter, but I'd like to see more of the foggy atmosphere.
This one's just about perfect!

It's on our farm here in Kansas. Originally it was a brooder house for raising chickens, now a gardening shed. We painted it a few years ago.

Just testing out my new A7RIII with a recently bought Shift lens. The lens in particular is the Olympus OM Zuiko 24mm f3.5. I'm surprised by the sharpness and reduced CA for such an old lens.

Some Apartments at Park Merced. A7RIII w/ Olympus OM Zuiko 24mm f3.5 - 1/1000 ISO 800, forgot the aperture. Somewhere between f/11 and f/32
