Yes. If you have both, you're (very well) covered from 19 to 900mm!

Thanks for posting those photos, Roland. They brought back memories. It's a town I seemed to pass through several times, but never stopped to admire, heading north from Radlett, about half a century ago. So I've just taken the opportunity to do a virtual tour around the vicinity, thanks to Google Street View.

Incidentally, how do you carry your two cameras these days?

Hi Cyril,

Thanks for the message,,

"Incidentally, how do you carry your two cameras these days"

Well my normal "combo" is the LX7 & TZ70 and these are carried in my now very old Lowepro shoulder bag,

Now as I have started to "play" with the two Casio's I'm simply taking the Pans out and replacing them with the 850 & 5100 for now.

I liked the Roots rsw4 bag shown in a previous post that can hold two Casio's nice and snug,

I've tried using two small pouch type bags cable tied together,

But its not working as good as I'd hoped for so I'm on the hunt for something different.

I don't know about you, but with the Casios, I've found I can generally handhold most shots, so dispense with even a small tabletop tripod - another saving in weight and bulk for travelling

Thanks, I'm still using a a Metrosafe 250 GII whenever I leave the house. Depending on circumstances, as well as the usual wallet, keys, and other documents, it can also hold 2 small cameras, a rolled up rain jacket, brolly, water bottle, rolled up hat, for a sunshade if needed, and other small necessities.

Hi Roland, I use a free program call ShiftN for architectural photos taken with my ZR 5000, like the ones you posted. It corrects the perspective common in wide angle shots. I ran two of your photos through the program leaving all settings at "automatic". You can download it if it's something you want to try.

Hi Jim & thank you.

Wow they look so different,, I put mine through a bit of correct camera distortion in PE12 but yours look far better.

I"m going to delete my two off of my flickr page and replace them if that's ok with you, and I"ll certainly download that programme and give it a try.

Thanks again.

Just tried to download the programme and all my anti virus / spam software is telling me not too.

I"ll have to "investigate" further on this.

Found it and downloaded OK from https://shiftn.en.softonic.com/ with no warnings or alerts. Using Avast freebie here. Maybe your virus checker is getting a false positive hit.

As for perspective correction, long user of PaintShop Pro so most times use that. Some images look weird when corrected as we are so used to what wide lenses do when tilted, but some look good. Always worth a try to see what happens. Shoot wider than needed to allow for cropping when fixing.

Thanks for the link Guy, I"ll give that a try to see if it allows me to download this time.

"Shoot wider than needed to allow for cropping when fixing".

Strangely enough I did this time for that reason, obviously not enough so I need some more practice at it :-)

Walked to another PC and started over again just to make sure.....
I suspect that you were distracted by the rubbish download links that Softonic and others try to put in your face. I saw that link you mentioned at the top of the page but ignored that and concentrated on getting ShiftN.

Neat program by the way, I like its simplicity.

Regards..... Guy

Rolandb, Try this link for the download of ShiftN

Jim

Just for fun I applied ShiftN to a random photo taken inside a plane just to see what might happen. It auto fixed it in terms of straightening it as it was tilted sideways a little. It ignored the strong and possibly confusing converging lines of the plane interior. Neat.

Thanks for the info regarding 'wrong download button' I think that might be the reason.

I'll give it another try tonight once I'm home from work.

Tried getting this programme Guy the way you told me and,,,,,

Every time I try running it, all it keeps saying is that I have to allow it to make changes to my PC,, and as I have no idea what these changes are,, I think I"ll be giving it a miss.

Thanks for all your help,,

I suspect that you are seeing the usual thing that pops up when installing any software, does it look like this....?

d57c9098e338407b8bf989eaf600349c.jpg

Or this.....?

You need to accept both times to get the software installed. Many others have done it with no problems. I've installed it on two computers here and no issues at all. Nice program, it will be very useful. Plus it's free, and that appeals to me.

The changes referred to above are necessary changes that the software has to make in the system to allow it to be recognised and to be run as needed. The "unknown publisher" thing is because many software writers and companies do not bother to apply to Microsoft to get the necessary "certificate", maybe that costs them so one more reason for them not to do that.

If there's any lurking virus etc then your usual anti-virus checker will find it and warn you. I use the free version of Avast for that and it works fine despite the endless nags about buying more features.

Thank you Guy,, that puts my mind at ease.

I"ve had PC "trouble" before and am now always a bit wary of anything like this,,

Thanks again.

Roland.

ShiftN also seems to be Windows only.
Sadly that's the situation as maybe 90% of the world's computers run Windows, so that gets the attention of the software writers. Look after the 90% and ignore the 10%.
