I have a Mobius Maxi Actioncam with a M12 lens on the front. I would like to mount an IR Pass filter on front. I have something like this: http://a.co/d/58GXpqq which is threaded and meant for SLR lenses, I have a step down thread kit but that only goes down to 37mm. I measured the M12 lens and its outside diameter is around 17mm. I can't find any step down thread adapters that go down that low. I'm struggling to figure out how to mount a filter like this onto an M12 lens, any suggestions?

You can get a GoPro Hero 4 filter adaptor for various sizes of screw filter, I use 52mm, the smaller ones can have some vignetting with a wide angle lens: https://www.dpreview.com/forums/post/61926923

That fits the GoPro lens barrel. M12 lenses come in various widths, most smaller than a GoPro lens barrel, it is normally possible to find a bit of plastic pipe that will fill the gap, and maybe a bit of electrical insulation tape to tighten the fit.

Are you removing the IR cut filter from the lens before using those IR filters?

If you don't then they will be too dark for video...

Thanks that was a good tip, I got one of these:

unfortunately crap like that takes forever to arrive from China via ship so I got one of these since they were both so cheap:

I may need to glue a filter thread on the second one. They were pretty cheap so I'll give them both a shot.

Yeah, I already took out my IR blocking filter, everything looks purple now; I tested it out just hand holding a IR950nm filter and it works pretty well.
