Here is a Z7 review I have put together. I was going to post the full review here but I don't like how this forum handles photos. Maybe its just in my head but I never think they look as good on here.

Here is the link to the review:

Probably the best advert for the Z7 I have seen but I am under no illusion that I could come anywhere close to your images. I do appreciate the selection of lenses you showcased. I had already decided that the 300 f4 vr and upgrading my current 70-200 f2.8G (II) would be on the cards. By any chance have you tried the latest TC 1.4 on either lens with the adapter?

Many thank for sharing ( and I agree FM shows images better than here).

thanks for sharing

Amazing photos and a very good, balanced and informative review. On balance it seems the Z7 offers more to the average photographer than was first suggested and overall the shortcomings are minor.

Thanks for posting!

Only one problem with the review and amazing photos is that I have already preordered Z6 and now I am tempted by Z7 ;)

Your problem is a good one for Nikon :-)

Well, there is that :) . I will start with Z6 and then look at next generation. I am letting my son use the a7rii and my wife and I are sharing an a7iii. The price for Z6, 24-70 f4, 35 f1.8 and adapter is a better match for my bank balance ;) .

My review shows I obviously like the Z7 but I am frustrated a bit with Nikons pricing.

If I didn't shoot Landscape I would likely buy the Z6 instead and even with shooting landscape I feel a bit ripped off in comparison with the Z6.

The Z7 has ISO64, 45MP, more focus points - I have shot higher MP since the D800 came out so I am used to it. I also enjoy iso 64 for my landscape work. Not sure the Focus point really matters, we won't know till there is side by side comparisons of the Z6 and Z7.

The main reasons I like the 45MP is for printing and cropping(wildlife).

The Z6 has Faster FPS, straight 4k video, Likely a bigger buffer, Better High ISO. These are important advantages for some people. I will admit these don't matter much to me but they are important features to a lot of people.

Both have advantages/disadvantages but where I get upset is price. THey are $1400 apart even though they are identical outside the above mentioned features. That is a huge price difference.

When the D810 and D750 were out I had the D810 and I could rationalize it better because the price difference was $700 and the D750 had inferior parts. There was no comparison between the D810 body and the 750. With the Z series they are exactly the same.

I think its a hard pill to swallow and if you don't need the 45MP the Z6 is a no brainer.

thanks, I bought the 300mm F4 PF a few weeks ago to go along with the Z7. I actually bought it used with the 14TCe iii but I was planning to sell the tc14 to help pay for the 300mm.

I was scared to take it out just incase I like it and want to keep it. I have been tempted to try it out with the 300mm and if I do I will let you know how it goes. I have heard from others the Z7 does really well with the newest TC adapters.

Stunning images!!!

I don't know if it is the camera (I own a Z7) but your images are some of the best I have seen on dpreview (or most other places).

I realize longer nighttime exposures yield a different kind of look but whatever you did post processing deserve to have these printed large and displayed. ( if you did do something out of the ordinary please let the community know).

Good work and I sold my D850 a few months back in anticipation of the Z7 and I am reticent to admit I did the right thing for what I do. YMMV.

Kudos again,

Bob

thanks for the comment.

Nothing special really for processing. Most processing in lightroom and with the nightshots I like to bring them into photoshop for selective white balance and some other selective adjustments. I prefer PS CC for white balance especially on night shots with weird lighting.

The time of year helps make them standout. Aspens turning gold with snow is something that only is possible a couple weeks out of the year and some years it doesn't happen. Include nightshots with that type of scene and its rare.
