... circular polarizers for the E-10? I tried one on in the camera store the other day and there was no visible effect as I turned it. I mentioned it to the owner and he said, oh yeah, they don't work with digital cameras. I thought otherwise. Surely there's a way to do. (and don't call me Shirley!)

They work fine on my (and many other peoples) E-20.

Store owner didn't know what he was talking about.

Make sure you are in a location where you have reflected light, for example look out a window at reflection on car windows and rotate you'll see a big difference.

Bob,

I've been using polarizers for years and, most recently, circular polarizers. I'm not sure I can answer your question as when I rotate the pol. on my E-10, the difference is very noticeable.
Yes, they DO work with Digital Cameras!

I'll try it again. I did aim it at some glass cases and windows but maybe I need to go outside to check it properly.

Bob, as previosly mentioned the light needs to be coming at an angle, you won't notice any real change nor will it be effective if the sun is straight on. I use a B+W circular & I love it. If you can spend the money, get a decent one, w/brass threads so it won't lock on you. I had a Promaster lock onto a uv filter & it was a bugger to get apart. With the Exx you can also use a linear but I would opt for the circular, it will work on any camera.

Cheers, Bill

They work on DSLR-s, but the linear ones work as well on the Oly e-20. If you check it take care the sun to come from side, not from behind!

I didn't know that about the linear polarizers. I have an old one I'll dig out and try. It's not the right thread size but I can at least get an idea of how it works. Thanks all.

I have had my E-20N for about a month now. I have found that the UV and the circular polarizer are my most used filters and work great for me.

The polarizer brings out the dark green in vegetation in bright sunny landscapes and is great for outside car shows to reduce the extra glares and potential blowout otherwise.

Not to mention the unbelievable dark blue skies with the polarizer!

It works for me.

Good to hear. I shoot a lot of wide and panorama landscapes and I'm looking for those skies. I have a neutral density graduated filter on order but I still plan to try the polarizer again.

If I may ask, what are some of the better panorama software?

I use Panorama Factory (you can get a free trial download from their site) and it works fine for me. Pretty simple to learn, too. I hear Pano Tools is good althouth I've never tried it, and there is also a free program in Photoshop Elements. You may have that and not know it. I've posted quite a few panoramas in the past and you could probably find them under my profile.

to all who gave me some good info on this. I dug out an old linear polarizer I had for years and it worked like a charm. The skies really popped. I had always thought a circular polarizer was required for autofocus but apparently not. Saved myself about $50, although this one doesn't fit between the camera and WCON.
