Good Afternoon!

Another image with my trusty, unguided Skywatcher Star Adventurer tracker and the 180mm Nikkor lens from October:

M31 - Andromeda Galaxy

Slight crop due to rotate the galaxy for a more correct view as it is on the night sky.
;-)

best regards,

Very nice Michael!

Impressive!
Hi Alen!

Thx...and with a little patience - in about 3 billion years we'll collide, for sure an impressive view on the night sky then!
;-)

best regards,

Very nice! Can you give us more details about exposure and stacking parameters?

No problem - already there, see:

Technical details, software used...

best regards,

Very nice Michael. You give me hope for this lens. I've had difficulty with its fringing in the past so always hesitate to use it.

TFS.

Good Evening Nate!

Yeah, it's not the very best wide open, but it's quite old, so we have to take it as it is.
;-)

best regards,

I have the 180 ED f2.8 AIS and it's the same - a bit of a tendency for halos wide open, but it's pretty solid at f4. Always a toss up on whether to commit more time or risk halos and lost frames...

Lovely image by the way!

great shot Michael

I use the old mf AIS ED 180mm (5 lens elements) at f3.5 it works great for astro, f2.8 is do-able with that lens a bit PF though.

best regards,
Was sure I had captured the Andromeda galaxy starting its approach, until I realized that I had bumpen into a tripod leg...

Splendid image. Will be exiting to follow your images until the collision happens! :-D
