Has anyone tried the 45mm P lens on a 14N? Please let me know if it is practical to focus it on the 14N, and any observations you have on image quality.

Cheers,

DL

David- Glad you asked, as I have been meaning to try my 45P on the 14N. I just got a set of shots of my son at the piano. I used auto lens setting, ISO 200, flash at 1/60 from 2.8-5.6. The quality is superb. The 14N works with everything the 45P brings, great sharpness, color, contrast, and bokeh. The larger view finder compared to my other DSLRs makes manual focusing easier. Looks like a great combo. best....Peter

I did some testing. The Auto optimization was Type 1 and this does give the green on left, magenta on right artifacts. I found Type 3 to be just fine, Type 2 had mild artifacts. So....Type 3 for this puppy at least on my 14N. best....Peter

Peter,

Thanks for your helpful input. I've begun the search for a reasonably-priced 45mm P. My main reason for wanting to try this lens is that it's focal length is close to the 'normal' perspective for 35mm ( 43mm, as I recall, is 'normal').

Cheers,

David

Reasonably-priced is going to be hard to find. Since the lens is relatively new, there are not many used ones to be found. Adorama is selling the grey-market version for $270; that is the best I've seen so far.
