Most people already have an everyday lens so it would be interesting to see how many still chose to get this lens, to get it at $600.

Is this Z7 only, or is it to include orders for the Z6?

At $1000, the 24-70/4 S is a bargain. At $600, it's a no-brainer.

Couldn't agree more, Jim. The 24-70 is a fantastic lens and as part of the kit it is stupid good value for money.

Between your endorsement for this lens (and Ming's) I'm glad I haven't bought a 24-70 f/2.8 for my D850 yet.

Hmm, pretty overwhelming choice.

Wonder how many bought the 24-70 S after some good reports here and elsewhere, before formal reviews of it.

Maybe some of the early buyers figured they already had a zoom in that range so they thought the 24-70 S would be mostly redundant?

I was a little skeptical at first, but then I realised that the new mount would give benefits that may be applied and thus seen with the 24-70 and I was not disappointed. It is a gem of a lens.

I got the chance to try the Z7 with 24-70S kit of my friend's days ago, comparing to the Tamron 24-70G2 on my own D850, the S one is noticeable sharper in the corner than my Tamron.

I like that kit lens very much.

That's a pretty outstanding lens, at least for my needs. There are just two issues I have seen with it.

The first is that there is sample variation, though probably not more than many other lenses. The piece that came in my Z7 kit had slight alignment issues. The bottom left corner was never as sharp as the top right one. I also tested a demo lens available, which also had a similar problem, though to a lesser extent. The third sample I tested was as near perfect as I would want, and that is the one I picked.

The second issue is that this lens produces a bit of "double-lining" in the near transition region from in-focus to out-of-focus. This may not be of much concern for many people, but it disturbs me in many situations. The Sony 24-105 FE is much better in this regard, though overall I prefer using the Nikon.

While it may be different in USA, it is difficult with a longer waiting list, to get a Z7 without the 35-70 S.

If the "marketing" situation is similar in USA, more limited availability without the 24-70 S may screw the poll result.

I pre-ordered the Z6 lens/adapter bundle immediately after the announcement and obviously before any lens reviews. Yes I’ve got an existing 24-70 f2.8 but wanted to minimise size/weight for everyday carrying around.

...yes. It's that good.
Jim Kasson is totally right.

Soon, a Z6 with FTZ and 24-70F4S will join my D850. Both sets excelling in what they are made for.
Main reason for me are totally silent shooting while looking through the viewfinder(wedding photography, classic music events etc.), fps, high iso, weight and compactness. My findings here .

Kindest regards,

Stany

Thank you Ajay, I'll have to check mine when I get it. I've been lucky and never had any real problems with lenses. What distance did you notice that problem at, short range (<10m) or long (say 100m+)?

Yep. After I tested the 24-70/4 S, I got rid of the 24-70/2.8 G. I'm not going to get the 24-70/2.8E; I'll use a prime on the rare occasions when I want f/2.8.

I did, but I could get the camera sooner if I bought the bundle. Serendipity.

Jim, I am struggling with the extreme corners, especially at 24mm with the 24-70 Z. They do not look very good to me at all. I used to own the G version but do not have direct comparisons. Have you found that the Z does a better job at the extreme corners? If so, this does not say much for the G version of the lens at all.

BTW, I am finding the 35 Z to be a real good lens in these same corners. Night and day difference.

I took the suggestion: buy it first, sell it if unhappy. No complaint, except it is f4, bit slow on Z7.

Any chance you can post 1:1 crops of the lower right or left corners? Thanks,
