Why I Like This Forum

I like this forum because it offers a nice balance of topics.
There is a little something here for us all. We have tech-talk.
We have Olympus talk. We have digital photography talk. We've got
general photography talk. We have great photographs begging to be
critiqued. And we have OT topics of interest to anyone with a
computer, or internet access, or credit card, or shopped at Best
Buys, etc.
And we have plenty of photography talk in disguise. What camping gear should I get? How do I carry my IS camera while I'm biking dirt trails in the park? Anyone ever been to Montana?

I'm from Montana. Helena to be exact. What would you like to know? My goal for next year is to get back and float a couple of rivers. Boy do I miss big sky country.

It has taken me a bit to post to this thread...as I am at a loss for the words that I know are in my head, but unsure how to write them.

At first this forum provided very valuable information, advice and great photos to view and get ideas for. Then it turned into a place where you could still get the above info and a laugh and humor at the same time!

Then it became a wonderful family of people who are warm, funny, creative, understanding, helpful and so much more!

Along the way I managed to find many friends here in addition to one special person that has made such a difference in my life, I would not know where to begin to "thank" this "special friend" of mine. (thanks!)

When I first posted in Jan. I never would have imagined how important this forum would become or what it would mean to me. It is my life line and I thank all you wonderful people that make this like family! Thanks for making me feel important...needed...and that I matter!

I have an Olympus XZ-1 camera. I just returned from a long vacation and I am downloading my pics on to my Mac. The pix are not coming in in the order I took them. They DO appear in order on the camera. I have had to reset the date, time and hour on the camera a few times when I recharged the battery, but this has not happened before. A tech at a local camera store said the electronics in the camera might be dying, and thus the camera in dying. What do you think?I love this camera. It takes great pictures.

When this thread first started I was using a C300Z. Olympus has pretty much gone from the compact scene now as has your internal battery I fear.

A real blast from the past.

One of strengths of Olympus cameras to me is getting the USB interface right, something I've yet to find other makers score with.

It's an absolute doddle to transfer piccies via USB, as well as recharge the battery, Olympus should be praised a plenty for getting the USB interface right, I changed from my former method of swapping batteries into a charger and using a card reader to transfer files thanks to their top interface, by thus topping up the battery on my favourite and still daily used SZ-16 I manage to avoid having to redo its settings.
