This is the weekly Show Your Snaps thread where we invite you to show your own snapshots or even choice pictures. I'll be sure to comment about your photos, if you choose to share.

When you are posting your own images please submit them as a reply to this post. Otherwise your pictures may be overlooked. You might also consider describing your pictures in the subject title. See my own photos for this week as a reply.

Remember it's all about the enjoyment of taking pictures regardless of what we have. We can learn from each other and it's fun to share too. Thanks everyone for your participation.

This is open to all camera systems and skill levels.

This past Saturday, I went to a pumpkin regatta in Tualatin, Oregon. Each year they race around a small lake in giant pumpkins.

Photo No. 1 - The pumpkins are brought in and loaded here. The largest one weighed over two thousand pounds.

Photo No. 2 - The pumpkins are carved in this section to be made into small boats.

Here's some autumn leaves near where I saw the wood ducks last Friday.

Photo No. 4 - Some mallard ducks rested near some yellow trees as seen in the reflection. I will have to look for more autumn colors. It's a pretty time of the year.

Awesome series Digi, love the colors and the theme of the regatta. Our leaves are just starting to change and we have high winds foretasted so not sure how long they will stick around.

My eagles seemed to have moved on and I am not seeing very many migrants yet either. So I settled for more buzzards and yellow legs.

Great snaps!! Thanks for sharing. I never knew about the pumpkin boats!!!

Great snaps!! The Turkey Vulture is a winner!! (and the others are great to.. but the TV is so dramatic)!!

Thanks CD, I have a love hte relationship with the vultures, I love trying to capture them but they always seem to find a way to not come out well. :)

Thanks. I learned about the pumpkin boats a few years back. I've been there a few times. There's all sorts of events we can find with an internet search.

Hi Digirame,

I think the first photo, they could of made a battleship out of the pumpkin, it's that big. :-)

As alway's you've captured the atmosphere well and the vivid colours are great.

Hi Rocket13,

Good captures, especially like the yellow legs (photo 2) against the background.

Hi all,

Still warm temps. and plenty of sunny days although they're predicting snow by the end of October.

Autumn is beginning to show more of its usual colours now. I think the warm temps. have encouraged the herons to hang around awhile longer. (Aperture f/5.6 ~~ (SS): 1/160 ~~ ISO 400 ~~ EC: 0 ~~ PASM Mode: Custom ~~ Metering: Partial ~~ Focus Type: AI Servo ~~ FL: 250mm ~~ Lens: Tamron SP 150-600mm f/5-6.3 Di VC USD ~~ Camera ID: Canon EOS 7D Mark II).

Lots of berries, the birds and animals will need them if it's a long cold winter as predicted.
