Nikons answer on Canons 300Dl ?

Not a problem. One more post down for me and you would have found that I said -

"Hi David! That's just it. His posts are brief and he does well with his English for being from Germany. But I went back and read every one of his post and I have to give Peter the benefit of the doubt. The poster had a very innocent quality in the tone and manner of how he expressed himself. Nothing sinister at all. If anything, a defined difficulty in the written English but more power to him for trying. A great way to practice at any rate."

I should not have jumped on you in the first place. A pattern was there that I saw in two canon twits that had jumped me earlier and I had my fangs out to bite anything that looked like them. Fangs withdrawn.

I spent all my high school years to include graduation in Germany. Never be sorry for your english. Most of us have little skills for a second language much less english.
I would respect a post that said look,....
SORRY Larry that I'm a German and that my english is so poor.
When you look at my post history, you will see that all my posts
are very short. If my English were better, I could write sentences
like you wrote.

But I'm only a German, sorry again.

Don't worry. They will have an answer. Canon has had a lot more "firsts" than Nikon over the past few years. For example, ubiquitous use of ultrasonic motors, image stabalization, and the release of a prosumer digital SLR (D30) to name a few... Nikon has only had one major "first" recently, but it was a biggy--the release of the D1.

In the end, being first doesn't always matter anyway. How often has a second generation, more "polished" product really won the battle for the consumer wallets?

I'm not as convinced as most of the people on this forum that the Digital Rebel will be a big hit for Canon, anyway. There has been a lot of talk that the digital Rebel will get everyone to buy lots of Canon lenses, but I am not as sure. I suspect that most of the people who would be attracted to a digital Rebel won't buy any lenses for it. If Canon is selling the camera at a loss with the idea of making it up on accessories, they may be disappointed. I am sure the sales volume will be huge, but is there any profit at all in the product?

Only time will tell.

...will Nikon bring a new camera out ?

Are there any rumors ?
I have heard nothing.

I ogle with the 300D, but I am not sure to me any more.
So, what will Nikon do ?

I am glad to see the Canon 300D. Hopefully it will bring more amatuer photographers into the digital SLR field. Best wishes to all Canon and Nikon users, its the final picture that really matters, not which camera you used to capture it.

Too early to tell, but my bet is that something is in the works.
The interesting thing will be the sensor (whether it's Nikon's
LBCAST sensor or someone elses's) and the price.

Amazing.. this forum is only for Nikon worship it seems

and by the way the original poster only asked what Nikon's answer to the 300D would be -- he never said Nikon couldnt or wouldnt answer

A question like that is far from being a troll

"my Canon can beat up your Nikon " would be a troll
Hey, I have an idea...why dont we all go over to the Canon forums
and blast them with these troll questions...you know "What will
Canon's answer be to the new D2H?"..."what will Canons answer be to
the rumored D2X"?..."How can Canon promote world peace?" "Can
Canon stop the war in iraq?"

Jesus, Im sick to death of these Canon trolls and their - 300D this
and 300D that...the damned plastic camera from Canon is one of a
kind...Nikon doesnt NEED to answer the "300D". I hope everyone
DOES buy the damned 300D so they can be turned off by a plastic
1000 dollar digital camera that wont last them a year...

Sincerely yours...

AllenD!
I would respect a post that said look, I use a G3 and have been
looking at the 300D which includes asking questions on the Canon
Forum. Before I make a decision, I sincerely would like to explore
what Nikon may have to offer. Can anyone offer me any suggestions?

I would be more open to an approach like that then seeing a list of
Canon posts and then a sudden move to Nikon with a 300D message. It
may well be that the poster was sincere but troll tactics are what
they are. This one smacks of a taunt. And especially when more than
one person (Nikon) takes note.

Additionally, as far as new folk go and being scared off, you have
some Canon folks to thank for that for their thoughless acts at
Nikon forum. The same can be said for Nikon trolls at Canon forums
(a guess since I don't cruise the Canon forums).

But, from what you have just said, I will be extra careful in the
future with new folks. Perhaps a three strike rule or something to
that effect to see how they behave. Surprised? Shouldn't be. I'm
one of the rare folks here that has not called you a troll, read
what you have to say, and mostly find that your posts are
informative. You bring a balance to any discussion even if its not
a popular post to others. Anyone should be able to take all the
information presented, digest it, and come up with a logical
conclusion. No reason to attack someone for presenting their
thoughts even if you disagee with them. More to the benefit of
folks who have yet to draw any conclusions on a particular subject.
So take your fingers from the trigger and put down your weapons.
He's just a stranger passing through, and he probably ain't never
coming back, especially after a welcome like that.
