I did some searching and decided to buy and try the Youngnuo nifty fifty. I see lots of good reviews and people seem to like it. I will post some test pics when I get it.

Edit: I will be using this on my D300.

.. killer creatures belonging to OTHER people but which come into MY garden to menace MY wildlife. Fortunately, I'm an excellent shot with half a house brick ...
 
Well I've been away for a few months. My wife's cancer came back aggressively and she passed away Jan. 16th. I took a test shot with the nifty fifty. Straight out of the camera at full auto. A little too bright, but I'm happy with the lens.
