10% off at retail CompUSA

Holyoke Mass.

The 10% is meaningless. It's what the price is BEFORE the discount that
counts.

Like talking to rocks.

I said "If I walked in with the camera in the box with a CompUsa sales slip that said $900 (not including tax), could I buy one here at that price?
They said no.

I said that 'If I didn't have the camera and had this coupon, and walked in
and said "Will you price match this?" They said no.
I think you lucked out -- my local Best Buy won't match the CompUSA
ad since there's not a CompUSA in my town (there is one an hours
drive away, though). The manager goes on to suggest I drive to a
Best Buy in the same town as the CompUSA so I can get my claim done
there. That's frustrating, but I'm willing to make a one hour
drive (err, photography trip) to save $100.

So I call one of the Best Buy's down there and explain my situation
-- they said they'd accept my receipt from the Best Buy up here and
price match down there, which is great. However, they then
mention that their policy excludes "one-of-a-kind or other limited
quantity offer". I don't know if CompUSA's 10% off deal falls into
this category, but I'm willing to try it out.
Just got back from best buy and they gave me the 10% off. The
sales lady had to get the maniger to ask about it. You would think
that they were lawers there when they went over it, but in the end
gave it to me. When you go print the ad, print all of the ad, all
four pages and the rules pages. Do it quick, it is only for this
week, ends friday I think. Also if you buy from Best Buy sign up
for there rewards zone. $10 for a year however you get money back.
After 12,000 points you get $5 coupon back, and they give 5,000 to
start off with, you get 100 points per dollar spent. Thats 89,900
points for the camera alone. That is $45 coupons back towards more
stuff at best buy. After $10 for card, a $35 dollar gain is not
bad.
Thanks again!
Just want to let you know that I picked up a DR at a local CompUSA
(Portland OR) store today. I brought a 10% off coupon with me and
got the DR (with starter lens) for $899 - 10% off.

Originally, I ordered a DR from RitzCamera.com. I'm going to cancel
it.

Here is a link to the coupon. Make sure that you print the first 2
pages (in .PDF) and bring them to a store. Good luck.

BTW, I love the DR. I am using it with a 1GB microdrive. However,
I am still trying to figure out how to connect it to a Mac, running
10.2.6. I have the connect type set to PTP and still couldn't get
the camera to be recognized as a disk drive. Any one can offer a
quick help?

Yep, use a card reader. My lexar firewire one works fine with 10.2.6.

Woo-hoo, got the $110 rebate ($100 price difference plus 10%) at the Best Buy Gateway in NW Austin Texas. I visited the CompUSA that sits about 100yds away from that BestBuy to pick up a 300D "New Arrival" flyer that showed the price of $999.97, then brought that flyer, the printed CompUSA coupon pages, and my original receipt (from a different BB store) to the BB customer service counter. No problem at all, the bloke that helped me was very nice.

In & out in 5 minutes, no phone call to CompUSA. Thanks goodness for that 'cuz the 300D is out of stock @ CompUSA :)

Thanks kindly for the tip!

"Vincent" said that they only match "online List Price" requests. He said they do not match discounts. I even inquired about procedures to return my camera (I have until next Thursday) but that didn't make any difference to him.

Any other suggestions would be appreciated.
I would imagine this could open up a can of worms as Ritz has large
amount of these cameras so far. I'm sure they would like to avoid
price matching on this one.

One last note......I looked online at Ritzcamera.com (beings I
bought from the brick and mortor store) and their price matching
policy shows CompUSA.com as one they will price match with. There
may be some kind of loophole though.....who knows.

Good luck, let me know what happens.

Shirleen
I called and was told they would not honor it. I called back and
walked them to the web site showing the discount and was told to
e-mail thier customer service. I have and they also suggested I
would get a call tomorrow.

We'll see what happens.

I want to take advanatage of that $100 savings, but i'm in
Vancouver so my original plan was to buy online from Ritz. Any way
i can do that and still get them to price match?

Driving down to Seattle would be canceled out by having to pay duty
as well as GST/PST (versus buying from Ritz, that is)

Same prob here... but there is statement on their policy saying that they can't do an online pricematch if the item is being shipped to Canada. Well, go figure §8 ~

Thank-you for the info.

I got my 300D on 9/13 at $999 from BestBuy in Almaden. Thanks to
your info, they just give me back $119 on the pricematch.

Very interesting....I just got back from the Almaden BestBuy (in San Jose) and they refused to offer the 10% off since they were unable to verify that the CompUsa down the street had the camera in stock!! I am so mad! Maybe I'll try tonight again, or I'll go to CompUsa and see if they are in stock.

Good luck.

I did really get a refund from BB in Almaden, San jose.

I got the DR from J&R for $925 + $9.95 2nd Day. Just click on the link on the DR page and fill out the form, providing the links to the DR at CompUSA's site and the ad that shows the 10% off. No haggling is necessary.

I took the ad in; the local sales droid then called the nearest compusa where they didnt' have it in stock and denied me the price match....This really T's me off..

This will be the last thing I ever buy at that blue hole in the ground...They make ikea look like a well run operation.

In any case anyone know of a best buy in nor cali that WILL price match the darn thing without just trying to make the customers jump thru hopes cuz they make minimum wage and like to see their customers jump thru hoops?

Did they honor the coupon retroactively? or how did you handle that
part?
Mine did. They refunded the difference plus 10% of the difference.
Did you just walk in with your receipt and the CompUSA coupon and
the gave you $100?

How many days was it from the original day of purchase?
I saw the online coupon which was good for a week and good for
CompUSA stores. I printed the page with 10% off all digital
cameras. The only thing I was hesitant on was that BestBuy might
say that CompUSA doesn't sell these or doesn't have any currently
in stock.

They looked at my receipt, looked at the coupon and were pretty
fast to start working on the refund. I didn't have to argue my
case, not that I should have had to. I believe, after talking with
some customer support people they ended up calling a CompUSA, not
sure. It was more trouble for them to figure out how to ring it
up. Was it a return and new price? Was it a price match? Just
some sort of refund? All I know is that I ended up walking out
$117 richer. ($100 price match + 10% of difference + tax)

They seem to be good for keeping their word as far as price
protection is concerned. They won't be matching any online price
but it is definitely worth keeping up with pricing after you buy
something from their store.

My old stereo receiver died this summer so I bought a replacement
form BestBuy. Sure enough, the next weekend I got a 10% discount
coupon from BestBuy in the mail. Not only that, when I went back
to get the 10% I checked the price of the reciever and it had been
marked down on sale. They matched the new price plus gave me the
10% off.
thanks in advance...

Unfortunately none of the CompUSAs in Atlanat has the DR yet so Wolf/Ritz woudl not honor the price match and no one else has it in stock yet other than Wolf, I guess they are slowly making their way from the west coast?

CompUSA also had a online only price to the 10D of $1349 that ended today, I was oh so tempted.
