Hi!

I’m curious about reactions to this lens. From the few reviews I can find it links up and works very well with Sony a7 series cameras.

I’ve used Rokinon manual lenses on my Fujifilm cameras in the past with excellent results, and better color and sharpness than many much more expensive lenses.

If you have used the 14af on your camera i’d love to hear what you thought about it. ;)

Thanks!

I have one (SAMYANG).

It works very well indeed.

I have the Samyang version (US). My AF also works very well. Quick and accurate with my copy.

I have it and love it, it was my first lens from this manufacturer and I was pleasantly surprised. There is a little distortion but correctable and I like the results from it.

There are so many different lenses. Specifically, are we talking about this one?

Rokinon 14mm F2.8 Full Frame Auto Focus Lens for Sony E-Mount, Black (IO14AF-E)

I think it renders in a quite pleasing way, this is wide open and still sharp enough for me, just to give you an idea...have a look at the full sized image

I bought one at our local camera store, an tested it on my A7R2. I wanted to go wider than my Batis 18. Autofocus performed without a problem - fast and spot-on.

I was, unfortunately, disappointed by the lens' optical performance - the edges were blurred at all apertures. I returned the lens.

The store only had one item, so I could not compare different samples - perhaps I had a less-than-stellar example, or my comparison to my Batis (which is razor-sharp corner-to-corner at landscape apertures) was unfair.

I wonder if a non-AF version of the lens performs better optically - I don't mind focusing such a wide lens manually - DOF is very deep.

That’s what I’ve heard, but I’ve had manual Rokinon lenses where one was perfect and the other had edge softness as well.

I would have to guess that they designed an excellent product but in execution the quality is inconsistent.

I have a manual focus EF mount one (with the AE chip) and it works great. Sharp at all apertures.
